A colleague of mine once wrote that
non-resistance is being present to life, at willingness to accept life as it comes, so it is something to be worked toward. I agree.
However, our
resistance is some awfully fertile ground. When I am in resistance, by definition I am refusing to look at something -- some aspect of the situation, or (more likely) something in me that is fearful. At least once a day (an hour? a minute?) I find myself resisting something or other.
So when resistance comes up, we can take a moment to breathe deeply and ask ourselves, "where in me does this resistance
live? What in me is fearful here? What am I refusing to see?"
When we do that we have the opportunity to become more conscious of what goes on in our own minds. Then we are at the place of conscious choice. And we can choose that which brings us ease, grace, a sense of growth -- that which contributes to our becoming masterful at life!
With great love,
