Since incorporating 40 years ago Resource Centre for the Arts has valued accessibility. We believe that the arts are for everyone, that they're a fundamental part of a healthy community -whether working in the arts, at your art or experiencing others' art. In this edition of the RCA Newsletter, not only are our upcoming events listed, but we'd also like to highlight some of our efforts to make our programming accessible to students, seniors, artists and the underemployed.
One of the ways we're doing this is through the eyeGO to the arts program. We've partnered with them to offer $5 tickets to High School students on any show at the Hall bearing this logo:
Currently, the following events are participating in the eyeGO program: Dancing with Rage, Love You Forever and other stories by Robert Munsch, Shadows & Light: A Tribute to Joni Mitchell and Drowning Girls. To receive the eyeGO ticket price you must purchase your ticket in person at the LSPU Hall Box Office. Tickets are limited.
Another way that we're trying to let everyone experience some of the great theatre we have coming up at the Hall over the next few weeks is our PWYC Previews and Matinees. In an effort to make theatre accessible to all RCA Theatre will be offering PWYC previews of Dancing with Rage on February 7 & 8 at 8 PM, as well as PWYC matinees on February 11, 18 & 25 at 2 PM. Doors will open an hour prior to performance and all are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Our Second Space Series is generously supported by the Canadian Arts Presentation Fund and RBC, which allows us to present singer-songwriters and performance artists for the low ticket price of $5. In February Jake and Billy Nicoll and Ian Foster will be participating in this series.
Finally, all RCA Theatre productions also offer an artist's rate. So if you're one of the many people in our community who are working tirelessly in the arts, and at your art, then we'd like to extend our thanks and some discounted ticket prices!

Mary Walsh unleashes her rage to do battle on a grand scale!
A woman who starts to go blind, finally starts to see. A mother who travels across the country to find her lost child, rediscovers the child she has always had. A little girl who is always searching for her place in the world, finds that she's already there.
Dancing with Rage follows all their stories summoning the help of some familiar faces - Marg Delahuntey, a Warrior Princess, Dakey Dunn, Miss Eulalia Turpin, Mom Reardon, Connie Bloor and many more, new and constantly emerging characters.
Mary will navigate the rage brought on by pop culture, politics and capitalism. Dancing with Rage will always be up to the minute by constantly incorporating current events into every performance.

Highly original song-writing and skilled musicianship make these twins a pair to watch.

The Drowning Girls
BUY TICKETS
Tickets: $30 General, $25 Students
With their first look at him their lungs filled with air; their hearts began to beat. With their last look at him their lungs filled with water; their hearts would beat no more.
Set in three beautiful claw foot bathtubs, The Drowning Girls is based on the "Brides in the Bath" murders investigated by Scotland Yard in the 1910s. Three women found drowned in their baths without a struggle. Their life savings gone and their life insurance claimed. All recently married.
Surfacing, drenched, from the still waters of these final baths, Alice, Bessie and Margaret deliver their post-mortem testimony and tell how they became wooed, wed, insured, and dead.
Hilarious and hauntingly beautiful with actors soaking wet for the entire performance, The Drowning Girls premiered at the Edmonton Fringe and went on to tour nationally. Its chilling story and gallows humour will be brought to the LSPU Hall Main Stage by Director/Co-creator Charlie Tomlinson and performances by Allison Kelly, Sara Tilley and Bridget Wareham.
