Reading with a Firefighter
Grade Range: K-4
K-12 Connections is once again offering a series of career-related ICN events called Reading with... for students grades K-4. During this session, join an Urbandale firefighter. He shares the day-in-the-life of a firefighter. Using a story, video, and some of the tools of the trade, he will address a range of topics, including fire prevention tips and ways of keeping kids safe.

Martha Speaks: The Bippity Bop Barbershop
Grade Range: K-2
This ICN session is based on the Reading Buddies Program for Martha Speaks. If you have a buddies system in your school we invite you to bring them to the session together. The content will be aimed for children in grades K-2. Each week we will watch a 13 minute episode of Martha Speaks, play a game, read a story, and write a short journal entry: all based on chosen vocabulary words.

Career Day: Becoming an Architect
Grade Range: 9-12
Students interested in art, design, engineering, or architecture should join this session to learn about the skills, backgrounds, and qualifications needed to succeed as an architect. As your students will learn, an architects job goes beyond just designing houses or buildings. During this session students will have the opportunity to meet a licensed Iowa architect and learn what they currently should be doing to prepare for a career path in architecture.
