IPTV Offers Sessions to Homeschooling Families
All Grade Levels

IPTV was honored to host five informational sessions for homeschooling families from across Iowa. Families enjoyed activities and learned about resources. An educational outreach specialist will be holding additional sessions to dive into resources and demonstrate how to use them to enrich learning at home. Measure Up
Grades PreK-1

In the video George Measures Up, Curious George needs to measure a tall building for Chef Psighetti. First he uses himself and then realizes he can use a measuring tape instead. As children explore the concepts of measuring, they learn about using same-sized units to measure by creating and then using standardized pictures of Curious George and the cat, Gnocchi, to measure things around them. They then experiment with measuring tools to measure and compare uncooked spaghetti strands. Learn More
Tynker Hour of Code: Star Runner
Grades K-4

Students apply computer programming concepts as they experiment and discover how to draw squares, triangles and other geometric shapes using pen-drawing commands. This activity enhances STEM learning outcomes as they trace complex patterns to collect all of the orbs. Learn More

Who is Othello?
Grades 9-12

Use this video to explore who Othello is and learn about the historical figure who may have inspired Shakespeare to write the character of Othello. This lesson is best used during or after a reading of Othello. Using video, text, a primary source document, graphic organizers, an in-class debate, and text-dependent discussion questions, students will learn about how Shakespeare's England understood different cultures while exploring what it means to be an outsider. Learn More
