Out and About
Educators at Great Prairie AEA Learn About Free Resources

IPTV Education shared free resources, including PBS LearningMedia, Mission US and PBS KIDS, with administrators and curriculum coaches at the curriculum directors meeting this week. Attendees will share these resources and what they learned about using them with their colleagues  when they return to their schools.
Kids & Family
Learning Centers

You can turn anytime into learning time for a child, even those few minutes when you are on the go or waiting for an appointment. That's the idea behind IPTV's Ready for School Learning Centers, which are often located in the waiting areas health facilities. Learning Centers consist of a cart or shelf of age-appropriate children's materials such as books, activity books and more. They can also include a television so children and parents can experience high-quality children's programming aired by Iowa Public Television. IPTV Ready for School Learning Centers provide resources which encourage families to spend time together reading books, watching quality children's programs, and learning about additional ways to have fun together while waiting for their appointment. Math and Literacy Ideas To Go

Here are some great activities for you to do with your child on the go! These easy-to-do ideas are fun ways for you to help your child learn math and literacy concepts no matter where you are - doing things around the house or running errands in your town or neighborhood. Whether you view them on your smartphone, or print them off and stick them to your refrigerator, be sure to keep them handy and your kids motivated to learn!
Elementary
Arthur Buddies Program

Encourage social, emotional, and character development in elementary children with the Arthur Interactive Media Buddy Project. This supplemental social, emotional and character development curriculum uses interactive media, the characters from the PBS series Arthur, and cross-grade buddy pairs. Students partner with a buddy to work on interactive comics and games that focus on five important topics - empathy, honesty, forgiveness, generosity, and learning from others. The educator's guide will point you to the students' classroom media (interactive stories and games).
Secondary
Get the Math

Get the Math is about algebra in the real world. See how professionals use math in music, fashion, video games, restaurants, basketball and special effects. This resource contains videos and interactive elements to help students see the value and importance of learning algebra in school to apply it later in their chosen  career.
