World Elder Abuse
Dignity. Respect. Safety.

What is the definition of Elder? When I was growing up I was taught to "respect my elders." Elder being "any" adult. I believed anyone over 30 was old, and therefore, would classify as an elder too. I am way past 30 now, and don't consider myself old, (even though I can get the Senior Special at IHOP) but I do think of myself as an elder.  Someone who deserves respect.

Today is World Elder Abuse Awarenss Day.  A day dedicated throughout the world to raising Elder Abuse  awareness. The sad fact is more and more of our older generation are being abused by their loved ones instead of given the respect they have earned and deserve.

Take a moment today, and as often as you can to honor the elders in your life.
