Join a Human Chain of Hope!
Dear Religious Leaders,
The growing shock and horror of the people fleeing across Europe for safety is horrifying for all of us. The cheering crowds who welcomed them as they arrived in Germany were restorative of the humanity for those on the run and for those welcoming them.
This global crisis has been edging into our communities for some months, as people from many countries are fleeing war and terror. According to the UNHCR statistics, more people are running this year than at any time since the end of World War II. (70,000,000).
At RIM we have seen an increase in the number of referrals for Asylum Seekers, from attorneys, hospitals, and congregations. We have a growing waiting list. People are from: Uganda, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Sudan, DR Congo, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Eritrea. Most were persecuted for religious beliefs, some for helping others and some for political affiliations.

Where are RIM Clusters?

Please call the office if you have any questions or suggestions about ways we can work together to help respond to people who have been forced to flee their homeland and who have arrived here in Eastern Massachusetts.

You are asking "How can we help?"
RIM is placing our clients in Interfaith Clusters where they receive a community-based support system, that helps them adjust, recover, and prepare for the workforce.
You may encourage members of your congregation to join an existing Cluster or to assist in forming a new one.

We will be training new people to visit detainees in the Suffolk County House of Corrections. Dates of the training are: Sept. 12 and 19th. An application is on line and we can still accept applications with your recommendation.

We are able to train people in your congregation to tutor in ESOL. We can hold the classes at your location or in the Malden office.
