THEME OF THE MONTH FOR MARCH: REDEMPTION
Lent?


Mardi Gras is Tue Mar 4. The next day is the beginning of Lent. It's 40 days. But not 40 consecutive days.

Sundays aren't part of Lent. This makes it easier, right? Whatever you give up for Lent, you can still partake on every Sunday. It's a season for extended reflecting on the ways we've gone astray -- but also giving ourselves a break from that for one day every week from Ash Wednesday to Easter.

Unitarian Universalists don't generally embrace the standard Christian theology of Lent. Even so, we can use Lent as a deepening practice of remembering transience and connection. Angie Andriot reflects on the value of a Unitarian Universalist Lent. READ MORE...

Making a sacrifice -- giving up something for a while -- helps us break our habit-patterns and be more mindful. I'm a vegetarian, but this year for Lent, I'll be vegan -- I'll take the extra step of giving up eggs and dairy, too (except on Sundays, remember!)

May it be, for all of us, a season of intentionality and growth.

Befriend Your Body

A few weeks ago, "Self-Compassion" was the practice of the week. This week, the focus on the body-self for compassion and kind treatment.

My body is, after all, doing exactly what it's supposed to do: get older, and reflect my eating, exercising, and sleeping.
