THEME OF THE MONTH FOR JANUARY: CREATION
Happy 2014!

For the new year, I invite you to resolve with me to take up some small daily practices that will rewire our brains in ways that reduce stress, lift mood, and improve emotional resilience.

Each week in 2014, my "Friday Note" will suggest a simple practice of the week: 52 practices in 52 weeks.

It's going to be a great year!

Week #1: Be for yourself.

This may be harder than it sounds. Some of us don't think we count. But if your sorrows and needs don't matter, it can only be because sorrows and needs -- whoever's they are -- don't matter.

Your self needs your own support if it's going to be any good for anyone else.

The practice: Several times a day for the next week ask yourself, "Am I on my own side here? Am I looking out for my own best interests? (Which often includes the best interests of others, too.) Bring to mind the feeling of being with someone who cares about you -- and be that person for yourself.

Worship Service: "The Ecospiritual Imperative"

Salvation (from the root "salve") lies lies, I believe, in our connection with this world of ours. The salve for our woundedness, our fragmentation, lies in nature, in an ecological spirituality.

Prelude begins at 10:00. Entering song at 10:10.
