GA Selects Our Next Four-Year Study/Action Issue

Greetings from Providence, where I'm attending the 2014 General Assembly. I am truly having a great time and wishing you were here!

Hours ago, the delegates voted to select our next CSAI (Congregational Study/Action Issue). We select one CSAI every two years, and it remains a CSAI for four years. Thus, we are always in the first two years of one issue and in the second two years of another.

Two years ago (GA 2012 in Phoenix), the delegates selected Reproductive Justice as the CSAI for 2012-2016.

Here in Providence, the five nominees for our next CSAI were:
  • Empowerment: Age and Ability Reconsidered
  • Ending the War on Terror
  • Escalating Inequality
  • Gun Violence: A Public Health Issue
  • Renewing and Securing Our American Democracy
The issue the delegates selected for 2014-2018 was Escalating Inequality.

At CUC we will now begin exploring that issue together with our fellow UU congregations.

Next year GA is in Portland, OR -- Jun 24-28. It's not as close to White Plains as this year's GA, but it promises to be just as fun, enriching, deepening, and transformative! I hope you can begin planning now to attend.
