This week we have two different films opening at the Nick, and one extra special screening tonight!  The main film playing on our screen this week is  the new thriller ARBITRAGE starring Richard Gere.  This film is follows New York hedge-fund magnate Robert Miller (Richard Gere) on the eve of his 60th birthday, he appears the very portrait of success in American business and family life. But behind the gilded walls of his mansion, Miller is in over his head, desperately trying to complete the sale of his trading empire to a major bank before the depths of his fraud are revealed.  The film is exciting, and Andy Smith, our Executive Director, had the chance to see this film at Sundance. It also features Brit Marling, who appeared in the film Another Earth we screened, and the always wonderful Susan Sarandon.

TONIGHT we will also be out at the Cross Hill Market to do a joint screening with Whole Foods!  We will be playing the film For the Love of Beer at 7:30 followed by the Charlton Heston epic SOYLENT GREEN at 8:30.  Drinks will be available for purchase, and the suggested donation is $5.  This is a fun chance to welcome a new business to Columbia.

Tonight and tomorrow night at 10:30 we have finally brought something for the horror fan in your life.  The new film V/H/S follows a group of criminals scour a secluded country home for a mysterious videotape, and bear witness to scenes of unimaginable terror in this found-footage-style anthology horror film featuring segments from Glenn McQuaid (I Sell the Dead), Ti West (House of the Devil), Joe Swanberg (Hannah Takes the Stairs), David Bruckner (The Signal), Adam Wingard (You're Next, and Radio Silence). Both shows start at 10:30.  Come if you dare...

One final point for the weekend is that the SC Pride Festival is happening this weekend downtown, so you may want to come check that out or at least come for their parade.  More info at

Have a great weekend and we'll see you at the movies!
