WALKING TOUR OF TRUE GRIT MOVIE LOCATIONS

Tours depart every Friday at 11 am from the Ridgway Visitors Center.
1 hour long tour. Cost is $10.00. Children under 12 are free.
As you walk through downtown Ridgway your well informed and engaging tour leader will share a wealth of interesting facts and details and point out buildings and venues featured in or relevant to the 1968 True Grit Movie.

Weehawken's 31st Annual Ridgway Rendezvous Arts and Crafts Festival is THIS WEEKEND!
The 31st Annual Ridgway Rendezvous Announces the Entertainment Line-up for the weekend!!!
Mark your calendars and start making plans to come out to the 31st annual Ridgway Rendezvous on August 8th and 9th. In its 31st year, Weehawken Creative Arts will welcome over 140 artists and vendors on August 8th and 9th in the Town of Ridgway's historic park. The Rendezvous will once again feature an abundance of new artists and craftsmen's work to enjoy, plus an incredible line up of entertainment through- out the weekend for patrons. This two-day event offers plenty to enjoy all day long throughout each day. The entertainment on the Main Stage runs continuously on both days of the show with music ranging from bluegrass to rock and roll. Magic shows and a special performance from Weehawken's Yogini Circus Camp helps to make the entertainment extra special for the 31st year of the Rendezvous. Below is the schedule of entertainment for Saturday and Sunday. The Ridgway Rendezvous takes place at Hartwell Park in Ridgway, Colorado at the junction of Highways 550 and 62; the Gateway to the beautiful San Juan Mountains. The show runs on Saturday, August 8th from 9 am until 5 pm and on Sunday, August 9th from 10 am until 5 pm. Admission to the Ridgway Rendezvous on Saturday and Sunday is FREE, so make plans to bring your whole family and a car load of friends for a fun weekend full of fantastic art and wonderful entertainment in Ridgway, Colorado!

"Big Medicine Gang" at the Sherbino Theater
Come out to the Sherbino for a night of live music with Big Medicine Gang from Colorado on Saturday, August 8th!
Formed in the snowcapped Rockies of Breckenridge, Colorado in May of 2013
, Big Medicine Gang's
high energy original sound is a stiff cocktail of funk, blues, and reggae. Their original songwriting conjures a sound reminiscent of the Meters, Sam & Dave, and Led Zeppelin. Intertwined with a healthy dose of reggae back beats and dub jams fueled by Wailers, Sublime, and Skatalites. The Gang has had the outstanding pleasure of supporting and sharing the stage with such great acts as Melvin Seals and JGB, Mingo Fishtrap, Euforquestra, Don Carlos, The Revivalists, Mike Dillion, Members of the Subdudes, Everyone Orchestra, B-Side players, Caribou Mountain Collective, The Gasoline Lollipops, and many other national and local acts.
Doors and cash bar for Big Medicine Gang at The Sherbino is at 7:00pm with a $10 cover at the door.

The Living Room Lounge will feature art from local artists, live music from local musicians, and the bar will be open- creating the perfect evening to join fellow community members in sharing the artistic talent that flourishes right here in Ridgway.
This month's Living Room Lounge to feature music from local musician, A.J. Fullerton, who was 1 of 3 national solo finalists in the 2014 Telluride Blues & Brews "Blues Challenge" competition, and artwork from local artists, Karen and Floyd Day. The book by Don Paulson focuses on historic mining in the San Juan Triangle area of Ouray, Silverton and Telluride.
The text covers all aspects of a miner's life in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as well as the process of getting ore out of the mines, to the mills and to the smelters. It is designed for readers who are not already experts on mining history. The book also includes a chapter with detailed information about mining sites that can be visited today near Ouray, Silverton, and Telluride.

SECOND CHANCE WAG- A-THON KICKS OFF THE BOW WOW FILM FESTIVAL
Gather Pledges for Every Mile You Walk With Your Dog From July 27 - August 20th!
Second Chance is hosting a Wag-A-Thon to promote healthy living with your dog! Through the Wag-A-Thon you can get motivated to hit the trails with your dogs while saving lives at the same time.
Simply, grab a Wag-A-Thon pledge form at the Telluride or Ridgway Thrift Shops (or download at
adoptmountainpets.org) and start gathering pledges for $ for every mile you walk with your dog from
July 27- Aug 20.
There will be a Walk-A-Thon kickoff in Telluride on Monday July 27th at 9 am at
Oak Street Park (base of the Gondola) where you can get your event T-shirt (for $50 or more of pledges) and join a group hike.
After that (regardless of if you made the Kickoff event) keep track of your miles hiked with your dog through August 20th and post your progress with pictures of you and your dog hiking for second chances on Facebook and Instagram.
Thursday August 20th will be the final group Wag-A-Thon hike and will begin with all sorts of fun dog games and contests in Telluride's Elks Park.

Information must be submitted by NOON each SUNDAY to be included in that week's blast. 4. Press-ready art must be no larger than 3x3 inches and no more than 150 words. 5. All info may be edited down at the Chamber's discretion. 6. Submissions should include: what, when, where and contact info. 7. Blast messaging should be focused on events/specials/ sales/news. 8. Logos or Graphics are useful. Please send in JPEG format. 9. Blast advertising is on a first come basis; the Chamber will use a rotation to ensure all businesses are served. 10. Businesses are limited to 2 consecutive weeks in a blast; businesses may resubmit their ads for future placement. 11. In conjunction with e-blasts, the Chamber will utilize its Facebook page to further promote member events/ messages.
