Mental Heath Capacity Building

Project

With the fall upon us, kids back to school and routines settling in, we want to take this time to share a few updates about our RFTS team.

Right from the Start is a Mental Health Capacity Building Project. We are a team of 5 people contracted to work within CRPS funded by Alberta Health Services to support the mental health of students, families, teachers and the community at large.

We work with teachers and admin to build social emotional programming and support mental health and wellness in the schools and community. We focus on education and destigmatization we also help strengthen school and community connections.

We are passionate about what we do and are here to help YOU (parents) as well! Our doors are always open. Feel free to drop in, email or give your child's school a call to find out more about our supports and services.

OCTOBER 10, 2017 is WORLD Mental Health Day!

Right from the Start believes that Mental Health is not an affliction but something we need to work with every moment of every day! To show your support for Mental Health Day you can wear the color PURPLE on October 10. Please follow the LINK f or more information on Mental Health Day.

Elizabeth Rummel School

Kate Rive is our Success Coach at Elizabeth Rummel School supporting classes with universal social emotional programming, 1-1 and small group work, as well as working with staff, children and families to support mental health education and promote wellness. Feel free to drop-in or get in touch with Kate.

Deren Alward will be working primarily with our grade 3's this year one day a week at ERS.

The grade 3 soulwarmers has started up at ERS with the support of

RFTS and Ms Williamson. They are working on the 'buddy bench' in this

picture. This is a place where children can go when they are feeling the

need for a friend on the playground.

Alpenglow School

Right from the Start will be at Alpenglow

this year every Thursday for half a day. We are

looking forward to meeting all of the students,

staff and families. Both Mary Weighel land

Kat Wiebe will be working on universal social

emotional programming in classrooms and supporting

students and staff with mental health and wellness
