Risk = Benefit, Today: FDNY (The Secret List)

Hey,

Today is Medal Day in NYC. Like many FD's who recognize their members for bravery, the FDNY will honor its bravest during Medal Day today: June 6, 2012. While the term "risk vs benefit" is used alot these days, clearly there are times where Firefighters at all FD's absolutely must take risks based upon conditions...

.....and below is a OUTSTANDING video about RISK = BENEFIT*.

7 of the year's top FDNY medals will be presented to members of Engine Company 201 and Ladder Company 114, who saved numerous civilian lives when they responded to a fire in Brooklyn on March 13, 2011. In the following video, the Firefighters from Engine 201 and Ladder 114 describe their incredible actions at the fire that night ...along with clips of the fire and radio traffic.

*Perhaps sharing some of the above clips may help those members of any community, elected officials and others understand that if you have ONE fire, or ONE THOUSAND FIRES, there must be an affordable fire response with trained Firefighters to take those risks when required...no matter how rare the incidents may be....

.....and blindly cutting fire budgets that show drastic and measurable reductions in services, are a risk that will eventually prove to not be a benefit at many levels.
