River Barle Signal Crayfish Project?

Signal Crayfish

The project is researching ways to control invasive Signal Crayfish in upland rivers and is centering around the River Barle and Withypool.  A team of trained volunteers go out two days a week, some volunteer just about every day, others as and when they can.  We ask for a minimum commitment of about one morning per fortnight from April -October, most of which need to be Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

A few key dates
 
March 6 th
There will be a talk in the Withypool Village Hall,  7 for 730pm.  To book email pwatts-mabbott@exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk with an indication of how many people you'll bring.
 
March 14 th
Volunteer Training day 1
 
March 21 st
Volunteer Training 2
 
March 28 th
Site set up / reserve training day
 
April 4 th and 5 th
Site set up and start of monitoring.
 
We will then be out monitoring every Tuesday and Wednesday for the rest of the year.  Weather / river allowing..
