Dear Parents,
We had two great open lab sessions this week in our Innovation Space in the media center. As I mentioned last week, there are lots of wonderful materials for students to explore including robotics, electronics, 3D design and printing, computer coding, and more. We are offering free open lab times for parents and their Riverside School children to sign up for in January on the next two Thursdays after school from 3:15-4:15
. If you are interested, you can find out more and sign up by clicking
here
.
Sincerely,
Christopher Weiss

WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE
Student Council is running a winter clothing drive to help the Open Door Shelter in Norwalk. From now until Feb. 10, we are asking all Riverside families to help out by dropping off new or gently used coats, jackets, hats, scarves, mittens, gloves, and boots. Please bring the items to the front hallway where there are specially marked bins.
THANK YOU FOR HELPING OTHERS STAY WARM THIS WINTER!

HIGH TOUCH HIGH TECH
This week, the 5th grade High Touch High Tech program was "Cosmic Capers". The students were able to launch rockets and travel through our solar system. They also sent signals around the earth using satellites and saw how their weight and age changed on the journey. The lucky fifth
graders also got to enjoy some astronaut ice cream and make their very own sundials!

GREEN GOAL -- GIVE UP BOTTLED WATER!
Nearly 30 billion plastic water bottles are sold annually in the U.S. with less that 20% of them being recycled (and even recycling them wastes unnecessary energy). Make the switch to a reusable water bottle and be sure to pack one in your children's lunch boxes, too!
