Dear Parents,
Summer is around the corner and this will be our final Peek at the Week!
Some information is below about our Peter Pan Summer reading program. We encourage kids to read the story of Peter Pan over the summer, whether it's a picture book, comic book, chapter book or whatever best suits your child. Copies are available at Greenwich Library and Perrot if you don't already have one. We will be incorporating Peter Pan into our programming for next year so exciting things to come!
Congratulations to the graduating families and best of luck next year!
Have a great summer,
Je

2018 SUMMER BOOK READ: PETER PAN
For the first time, Riverside Elementary School has chosen a classic story for students to all read independently or with their parents across all grades as a suggested shared summer reading experience. This will culminate in back to school activities in the Fall of 2018 including a theater performance by the The Summer Theatre of New Canaan in October.
This summer's selection is "Peter Pan," originally by J.M. Barrie.
This classic tale of a free-spirited and adventurous young boy who can fly and never grows up will certainly captivate the minds of our students this summer!
If you weren't able to purchase a Peter Pan book at the Book Fair, your children can still participate! Copies of the books are available at the central Greenwich Library as well as Perrot.
Check out our PTA website
http://www.rivpta.org
for more information and how to purchase a copy of Peter Pan. Our website also includes a few fun art and writing projects you can do with your children. We will display any projects on the bulletin boards in September. Have fun with it, be creative and enjoy!!

MARIACHI BAND FIESTA
This past Tuesday, the second grade was treated to a fiesta, complete with a mariachi band and sombreros. The second graders (along with parents and some siblings) sang a Mexican song, performed the Mexican Hat Dance and had a blast with a pinata. This year end celebration was organized by the second grade teachers and Arts in Education Committee and made possible by your generous donations to the Riverside School PTA.
