Dear Parents,
This Wednesday is our Family Math Night at Riverside School. Families can come either at 6 pm or 7 pm. See below for information about the event. We all look forward to seeing you then.
Next week is Spirit Week
at Riverside School! Please see the information below to see what the special days are Tuesday-Friday. Tuesday is "dress as your favorite character" day.
You are invited - this Friday will be the Bubbles & Beach Balls Event (weather permitting) on our back field (parents should go directly there) from 2:30-3 pm. Students and teachers will gather with their buddy classes. Students should bring a small beach towel and EITHER one item to blow bubbles OR a regular size beach ball for the event. Please note: no electric bubble making equipment (or anything resembling a water gun etc. should be sent in)
We have 3 Innovation Space Open Lab dates (for Riverside students with a parent), 3:15-4:15 pm (on June 1, 8, and 12) still available. You can sign up here

The last day of school for all students will be Tuesday, June 20th. It will also be a 1:15 early release day.
The 5th grade recognition ceremony will take place that day (June 20) at Eastern Middle School at 11:00 am (Good News - the EMS Auditorium now has A/C). More information on tickets and procedures will follow in June.

On Wednesday, May 31st, join the Riverside teachers as we travel the globe, exploring the wonderful world of math! Enjoy an exciting evening of hands on learning activities, appropriate for the whole family and organized by Common Core Math Standards.

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT SURVEY
Share your opinion on family engagement in our school! We will use feedback from the 2017 Family Engagement Survey to enhance our efforts to engage families in support of our students and our school.
Look for an email from "The Panorama Education Team" with the subject "2017 GPS Family Engagement Survey" for your custom link to the survey.
The survey deadline is May 31.

STUDENT COUNCIL DIAPER DRIVE
Student Council is running a diaper drive to help stock the shelves of the diaper bank at Mothers for Others. From now until June 9th, we are asking all Riverside families to help out by dropping off packs of new diapers and wipes. Please bring donations to the front hallway, where there are specially marked bins.

RIVERSIDE FIELD DAY -- COLOR WAR 2017!
Riverside's PE Field Day will take place on Wednesday, June 7th. Come support and cheer on our students as they participate in a friendly competition to see which color will be crowned Champion!
Grades K-2 Field Day, 9:00-11:30am
Grades K-2 Lunch Picnic, 12:00pm-12:30pm
Grades 3-5 Lunch Picnic, 11:30-12:00pm
Grades 3-5 Field Day, 12:30-3:00pm
Students should wear their colored Field Day T-shirt or any shirt in their team color if they did not order a shirt. The field day colors will be emailed home prior to the event. Also this

SAME CLEATS/NEW FEET
Calling all athletes! As your season winds down, are those cleats starting to feel a little small? Give your old cleats a new lease on life by donating them in the box at the entry of the school. Your cleats will be taken to Venezuela over the summer and donated to kids in need as part of the Same Cleats/New Feet project.

CALLING ALL 3RD GRADE ORCHESTRA MEMBERS
Orchestra rehearsal will be held Tuesday, May 30th at 8am in the gym. Please have your child arrive with his/her instrument and music. Students should enter the building from the outside door closest to the gym. Mr. Hoffman will be there to greet them. If you arrive after
8am, please have your child ring the doorbell and enter at the main door.
As a reminder, the concert dates are:
Tuesday, May 30th, 2:30pm. This daytime concert is for Riverside students only.
Monday, June 5th, 6:30pm. Friends and family are welcome to attend this concert.

NOTE FROM THE NURSE
All medications in the Health Office must be picked up by a parent no later than June 20th at noon. Any meds left after that time will be discarded. When you pick up your child's meds, the Nurse will give you new med forms to complete over the summer. The Nurse will be available on August 28th to accept the new medications and forms.

JOURNEY INTO AMERICAN INDIAN TERRITORY
On Tuesday, the Third Grade went on a "Journey into American Indian Territory" Through an all-day workshop that included a presentation, a museum brought to Riverside School, clay exploration, traditional games and stories, and a government activity, the third graders learned about the Iroquois Indians. Please ask your student(s) to share their experiences with you. This program was funded by your generous donations to the PTA -- thank you!

The PTA is again sponsoring a school supply fundraiser for the upcoming school year. Order now and your child's box of supplies will be delivered directly to the classroom by the first day of school!
