Reminder to bring cash to purchase some spooky treats to help support the 5th Grade Bake Sale on Friday, October 27th at the Boo Bash.
SCIENCE IN EDUCATION
Science in Education brought in the town of Greenwich for their amazing Watersheds program for the 4th grade.  They learned about where drinking water comes from, how our waste water is treated, and how to protect our community's water.
HIGH TOUCH HIGH TECH
This week, the 1st grade had their first High Touch High Tech program entitled "Force of Habit".  They pushed and pulled their way through natural forces of gravity, friction, and magnetism.  They had a chance to feel how these things help to stop, start, and accelerate everything around us.  This is a PTA sponsored Science in Education program.
WRITER'S WORKSHOP
The 4th Grade was treated to a writer's workshop this week from Sarah Albee, a published non-fiction children's book author. She started her visit with a presentation about how she decided on and researched her topics. Each class then met for a writing and revision-themed writer's workshop. The children will further develop their skills in their classroom writing. This is a PTA sponsored program organized by the Arts in Education Committee.
MATH MARATHON
The Math Marathon is underway and we have completed Week 2! Students can check out the results on the bulletin board in the front hallway.  It runs until Friday, November 3rd, so good luck and keep logging in to IXL!

Please contact Lauren Panarella at  [email protected]  or Anne Akyuz at  [email protected]  with any questions.

HALLOWEEN ALLERGY AWARENESS TIP
Halloween is chock-full of tricks and treats - a fun time of the year for all, but a time that is scary to children with life threatening food allergies and their parents on a whole different level.  Over the next couple weeks, with candy abounding, please be mindful of what you send into school with your child for snack and lunch. The most common food allergies (many found in candy) are: peanuts, tree nuts, milk, wheat, eggs, soy, fish and shellfish. Please read labels carefully to ensure the safety of all children. A product that contains a "Top 8" allergen or is labeled "May Contain", "Contains" or "Made in a facility that processes" the allergen is not safe for a child with that particular food allergy. Additionally, please be sensitive to children who may have allergies to foods beyond the "Top 8" if they are known in your child's classroom.

A list of allergy-friendly snacks can be found here. For additional information on allergy awareness in Greenwich Public Schools, please refer to the district's guideline here.
GREEN TIP OF THE WEEK
For this coming Halloween season we urge you to reuse, reduce and recycle! This can be applied to costumes as well as decorations and other things. Trade costumes with friends and neighbors and if you need a new decoration, then maybe you can make it out of recyclable materials.
