AUTHOR VISITS KINDERGARTEN CLASSES
This past Monday, the award-winning author of the Biscuit series, Alyssa Capucilli, visited each of our Kindergarten classes. Ms. Capucilli shared her personal writing process including the inspiration for her stories. She discussed developing characters and settings with the children and helped them understand how using action words can make a story come to life. The children have begun working on their very own Biscuit books, so be sure to ask them about the program!
This program was organized by the Arts in Education Committee and made possible by your generous donations to the Riverside School PTA.

BE SAFE - BE RESPONSIBLE AT RIVERSIDE SCHOOL
On Thursday, May 3rd
, GPS and Riverside School
are celebrating the final norm event of the year,
BE SAFE - BE RESPONSIBLE.
BE SAFE - BE RESPONSIBLE is a common initiative across grade levels to teach students about the importance of taking responsibility in their daily decisions, to think about the impact of their behaviors on the safety and well being of others, their community and the planet.
Students will take this opportunity to:
- Learn and review ways to ensure their safety and the safety of others
- Discuss ways others depend on them every day and why is important to be responsible and accountable for our actions and decisions
- Discuss situations that require choices and how choices can lead to short-term and long term consequences, both positive and negative.
- Find ways to be more responsible, more involved in the community and identify ways to protect others and the environment.
All students, teachers, and staff members are encouraged to wear GREEN for the event.
