 From the Office
Dear Parents,

You are invited! The rescheduled Poetry Picnic will be held this Monday during your child's lunch shift on the front lawn. Students are encouraged to bring in a short poem (either of their own or a favorite of another poet) to share at the microphone during the picnic. Students can bring a small beach towel to sit on during the picnic time. They can bring their lunch from home or buy their lunch in the cafe before joining the picnic.

Tuesday will be the final day of regular Grade 5 SBA testing.  Grades 3-5 SBA Make-ups will be given as needed Tuesday - Friday .

We have a number of Innovation Space Open Lab dates ( for Riverside students with a parent),  3:15-4:15 pm in May and June, available now, with some Monday and Wednesday sessions added.  You can sign up here

Class placement process and requests -  By this Monday I will send out by email a message to K-4 parents  about the class placement process. At that time,  if parents wish to share information about their child to help inform our work, they will be able to do so. To help improve the efficiency of this effort I will NOT be requesting letters this year but will be providing a Google Form link to you by email where (if you choose to) you can fill out information in a specific format that will be directly transmitted to us. The window to submit that class placement information will be exactly two weeks. No class placement submissions will be accepted after that and no letters will be accepted for that purpose.

Sincerely,
Christopher Weiss
Riverside School Principal

ARTS IN ED
This week the students celebrated Poetry Week! Arts in Education brought poetry-related programs to the school all week.

As a class, the Kindergarteners wrote a poem with Aly Sunshine who set the poems to music. Look for the finished product from your child(ren)'s teacher. First, Second, Third, and Fourth Graders honed their poetry writing skills with perennial favorite Ted Scheu, "The Poetry Guy."  The entire school will culminate the week of poetry-related activities with The Poetry Picnic on Monday during your child(ren)'s regular lunch time.

Please ask your child(ren) about the program they participated in. These programs are made possible by your generous support of the PTA, thank you.
GREEN TIP OF THE WEEK
With this beautiful spring weather, there is no need to idle in the pickup line! Idling increases the amount of vehicle exhaust in our air which is harmful to our children's health and the environment.  Turn your engine off while you wait, or better yet, walk or bike!
AFTERS UPDATE
Our Spring session has now concluded.  We hope you enjoyed the classes!

Thank you for your support of the Afters program.
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email us at [email protected].

Dina Murphy and Jenn Wolfe
