Dear Parents,

Thank you to all of the parents and students who were able to come out for our Family Math Night on Wednesday. We are also thankful for all the teachers who created great math centers and facilitated the fun math activities and learning.
 
We have 2 Innovation Space Open Lab dates (for Riverside students with a parent), 3:15-4:15 pm (on June 8, and 12) still available. You can sign up  here.
 
The last day of school for all students will be Tuesday, June 20. It will also be a 1:15 early release day. 
 
The 5th grade recognition ceremony will take place that day (June 20) at Eastern Middle School at 11:00 am (Good News - the EMS Auditorium now has A/C).  5 th grade parents, please look for the information and tickets that were sent home in Friday folders.
 
Special thanks to Ms. Punchatz, Mr. Arezzini, Mrs. Miserocchi, and Mrs. Collin for their work with our 4 th and 5 th grade band and chorus concert last Monday evening. The students shared beautiful music and songs with us. We also look forward to the orchestra concert this Monday evening.

RIVERSIDE FIELD DAY -- COLOR WAR 2017!

Riverside's PE Field Day will take place on Wednesday, June 7th (rain date Friday, June 9th). No parent volunteers are needed this year but please come support and cheer on our students as they participate in a friendly competition to see which color will be crowned Champion!

Grades K-2 Field Day, 9:00-11:30am
Grades K-2 Lunch Picnic, 12:00pm-12:30pm
Grades 3-5 Lunch Picnic, 11:30-12:00pm
Grades 3-5 Field Day, 12:30-3:00pm

Students should wear their colored Field Day T-shirt or any shirt in their team color if they did not order a shirt. The field day colors have been emailed home. Any questions, please contact Bill Bogardus or Mike Parisi.
ORCHESTRA CONCERT MONDAY
The orchestra evening concert will be Monday, June 5th.  3rd Grade orchestra students should arrive at 6pm.  They should drop off their instrument cases in the cafeteria and then proceed directly to the gym for tuning and warming up.  The performance will begin at 6:30pm. 

4th and 5th grade students should arrive at 7pm, and drop off their instrument cases in the cafeteria and proceed directly to the gym for tuning and warming up.  That performance will begin at 7:30pm.  Dress code for all students:  dresses or blouses and skirts, and shoes (girls) and shirt and tie (with optional jacket), dress slacks, and shoes (boys). 

MUSIC LESSONS FOR RISING FOURTH GRADERS
Third graders recently heard a band instrument demonstration at Riverside School.  Next year, as a fourth grader, s/he will be eligible to receive free half-hour weekly lessons during the school day on an approved band instrument. If your child wishes to participate in our program, please email  [email protected] t.us  before June 6th and you will receive a digital copy of the sign up form (if you haven't received one already. 

We look forward to teaching your child for the 2017-18 school year!

STUDENT COUNCIL DIAPER DRIVE
Student Council is running a diaper drive to help stock the shelves of the diaper bank at Mothers for Others. From now until June 9th, we are asking all Riverside families to help out by dropping off packs of new diapers and wipes. Please bring donations to the front hallway, where there are specially marked bins.  Thank you for helping Mothers for Others!
SAME CLEATS/NEW FEET
Last Call:   Riverside School will continue to collect  cleats  next week as part of the  Same   Cleats /New Feet project.  So check your closets and bring in any  cleats  that you no longer use.  They will be put to good use by kids in Venezuela!

NOTE FROM THE NURSE
All medications in the Health Office must be picked up by a parent no later than June 20th at noon.  Any meds left after that time will be discarded.  When you pick up your child's meds, the Nurse will give you new med forms to complete over the summer.  The Nurse will be available on August 28th to accept the new medications and forms.

EVERYONE, please join us at our Volunteer Tea on Monday, June 5th, 9am in the Riverside Cafe. W e will be thanking all of  our  wonderful volunteers who helped make the school year so great.  Highlights include:

VOLUNTEER TO BE A CLASS PARENT
If you would like to be a Class Parent for the 2017-2018 school year, please sign up via our online form here.  For more information about the role and responsibilities of a class parent please review the Class Parent Job Description.   If you have any questions, please contact Heather St. Louis at 813-928-3636 or [email protected].  Cl ass parents will be chosen in August by lottery after class lists are sent out and notified via email the week before school starts.  The deadline to sign up is August 1st .
ORDER YOUR SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR 2017-2018
The PTA is again sponsoring a school supply fundraiser for the upcoming school year. Order now and your child's box of supplies will be delivered directly to the classroom by the first day of school! 

Now you can order online for even more convenience.  Please visit the online site here  and enter account number 83285.  The site is live now. Alternatively, paper forms are available in the School Supplies box in the birdhouse. Deadline for submitting paper orders is June 5th.  Online orders must be received by June 11th.  Questions? WELLNESS AND FOOD SERVICES SURVEY UPDATE
Thanks to all of you who provided feedback via the district-wide food services survey.  Riverside was one of the top 3 participating elementary schools, with over 40% participation!  To learn about some of the statistics from the survey and the latest Wellness information, read our latest newsletter here

Join Greenwich High School students in their effort to get more people to start composting at home! Composting creates more nutrient soil, is better for the environment, and saves you money! There are lots of ways to start composting at home! Read here to learn more.
