We are proud to announce that Riverside School has again been named a School of Distinction by the Connecticut Department of Education!

Congratulations to our students, teachers, and staff. Special thanks to our parents, PTA, community, and district for their support of our school and our students' success.  You can read about the designation here.

Riverside School's Earth Day events from last year were highlighted in the national magazine PTO Today.  Special thanks to our PTA, parent volunteers, and the town's Conservation Commission for making the event (and article) possible. You can read the article here.

We continue to offer free open lab times in our Innovation Space for parents and their children to sign up for specific dates in March from 3:15-4:15pm.  Click here to sign up.

Sincerely,
Christopher Weiss

March 13-17th,  Riverside School will host its annual dance residency during regular PE classes.  Please remember to send your children to school in comfortable clothes that they can move around in (no mini skirts).  Paul and Brian Herman of Double Up Dance Studio in Fairfield will run the dance residency. Paul and Brian  have shared the stage and collaborated with prominent international artists and  have maintained their focus to inspire younger generations by providing instruction through their dance. We are looking forward to a great program!

RIVERSIDE RHYTHMS
Last Friday, March 3, the students were treated to a lunchtime performance by The Skunk Rockets. The band kept the cafeteria jumping to "last century" classes from musicians like The Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, and the two Elvises (Presley and Costello), along with original pieces. It was a great way to end Kindness Week!
SCIENCE IN EDUCATION
Science in Education brought in Animal Embassy last week for the 3rd grade classes.  They got to see an Endangered Species program, which exposed them to the topic of endangered species while also allowing them to have hands-on time with animals such as a chinchilla.
RIVERSIDE GEAR
Didn't get a chance to buy your favorite Riverside Gear?  The full Riverside Apparel Line can now be viewed online by clicking here. Just print and fill out the order form and return with payment to the apparel bin under the Bird House.  All orders will be delivered to your child's classroom the Friday following the order. Click here to see flyers in English or Spanish.  We hope you will join us to learn more about the Greenwich Public School Physical Education and Health Curriculum.
GREEN TIP OF THE WEEK
An easy way to reduce your carbon footprint is to buy locally grown products.  When you shop locally instead of buying products that were shipped from far away, you are supporting local dairies and farms.  Apart from this, you can follow organic farming practices and grow food in your own back yard!
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email us at [email protected].

Sincerely,
Dina Murphy and Jenn Wolfe
