The 35th annual Riverside Run is TOMORROW. It's a wonderful community event and we hope you all can make it to run or cheer on your friends! Please consider volunteering even if you are planning to run. Information on registration, bib pick up and volunteering is all in the box below.
Riverside students had fun running, walking and skipping laps as part of the "Run for Life" fundraiser during the Fitness Challenge this week to raise awareness for HERNS Disease. Please see the box below for more information.

RIVERSIDE RUN -- ON YOUR MARK... GET SET... GO!!!
The Run is just around the corner!
Registration/Bib Pick-Up will take place at Riverside School:
Friday, 2:30-4:00pm and Saturday, 7:30-8:30am. Cash, check, and credit cards are accepted for in-person registration.
NOTE: No rollerblades, bicycles, or dogs are allowed in the Run. The Run will go on RAIN OR SHINE.

FITNESS CHALLENGE: LAST CHANCE TO SUBMIT FORMS ON MONDAY!
If your child forgot to bring in the completed Fitness Challenge form today, all is not lost! The Wellness Committee will collect forms again from the school office on
MONDAY. All forms must be turned in by
12 NOON to be entered into the prize draw. Later submissions will not be accepted.

RUN FOR LIFE FUNDRAISER
Riverside students did an amazing job this week, running, walking and skipping as many laps as possible for charity! Certificates of participation will be sent home with your child early next week, indicating how many laps your child completed. We hope you will support their efforts and support the cause!
Donations for sponsoring the laps your child ran will be accepted through
Friday, May 18th. Please have your child bring in any donations to their teachers next week or drop the cash/check in an envelope in the PTA Wellness mail slot in school.
The money raised by this event will be going towards Mt. Sinai's research of a rare disease called
HERNS
which is currently affecting Ms Goodbody's husband.
The Wellness Committee would like to thank you in advance for supporting this great cause.

initiative founded by Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) to raise awareness about the severity of food allergy and anaphylaxis.

Get Hooked on Reading this Summer!

Reading
book
fair
on Tuesday, June 5th from 2:30-7:30pm
in the School Gym
. The PTA Book Fair Committee has worked together with our Media Specialist Fionnuala Browning and Riverside Teachers to provide a selection of summer reading books students are sure to love.
We are excited to announce Peter Pan as Riverside School's Suggested Summer Reading Book for ALL students. Please come buy an age appropriate version at the book fair! Peter Pan will be incorporated into the arts and education curriculum in the fall.
In addition to book titles for our students K-5, we will offer some great adult summer reads as well as fun
summer/camp activity
books and journals. An allergy free summer treat will be offered at the fair to our book worms!

FIELD DAY & T-SHIRT ORDERS
Field Day is Friday, June 8th. Riverside School Students will be divided into color groups and will compete against each other to see which color will be the 2018 Champion!
T-shirts are $7 each.

TWICE EXCEPTIONAL (2E) MEETING
On May 16th, 9:30-11am at Greenwich Town Hall in the Cone Room, school psychologist and former PTAC 2E chair Elana Gershon will be giving a Twice Exceptional (2E) presentation.

SAME CLEATS/ NEW FEET
Riverside School will be hosting the Same Cleats/New Feet cleat drive from May 21st to June 4th this year. Collection boxes will be placed in the lobby during that period. Please take a minute to find any old cleats that you are no longer using. They will be really appreciated by the kids in Venezuela.

Spring is the perfect time to clean out the garage, attic, basement...you name it! We are so lucky to have an amazing recycling facility here in Greenwich:

STUDENT COUNCIL CRAZY HAIR DAY
Splish, splash! Get out your flip flops and goggles! Student Council is hosting a pool-themed, crazy hair day on Friday, May 18th
. Throughout the week of May 14th,
we encourage Riverside students to make a donation to support the Greenwich Junior League's Drive to raise money for the Greenwich Town Pool. On Friday
, we will celebrate the end of the fundraiser and SBAC testing!

CARDBOARD CHALLENGE IS COMING BACK TO RIVERSIDE!
Back by popular demand, the Riverside Cardboard Challenge will be held this year on June 11 and 12
. Please start saving your cardboard boxes, paper towel rolls, string, ribbons and other recycled objects for the Riverside Cardboard Challenge. This two-day event challenges students to work in teams to build arcade type games using cardboard, recycled materials and imagination. Please DO NOT send anything to school at this time. We will provide more information closer to the event with specific dates to send in materials.Thanks for your help!
