PTA Highlights
Dear Parents,
We hope you had a wonderful week.  Our Math Marathon started up this week so we hope your children are working on some math skills at home using the IXL program.  They can track their grade's progress at the front bulletin board of school.  Yesterday, the kids worked hard on a surprise for the parents to view at the fall fundraiser, we think they all had fun working on this project and a huge thank you goes to the parent volunteers and our music teacher Jessica Punchatz who made this all happen.  We hope you are all able to join us at the Fall  Fundraiser on Saturday, October 21st to see the kids' project along with an incredible silent auction.  A sneak peek will be available soon!  Finally, our beloved Boo Bash has sold out for the late party so please see the details below if you have a ticket to spare and can give it back to accommodate Riverside students on the waitlist.

Have a great weekend,
Jenn Wolfe & Sarah Morris
PTA Co- Presidents

We have a long wait list for the late party! Please consider giving back any extra tickets. As a guide we recommend only having one parent attend per family

Please complete the survey by Oct. 16th.

SCHOOL PHOTOS
camera
School photos came home yesterday or today.  Retake Day will take place on Thursday, November 9th, starting at 9am.

Retake Day is for students who missed Picture Day and for those students whose parents are dissatisfied with their student's portrait.  You must return the entire, undamaged portrait package (except the class photo, you should keep this) on Retake Day.  No retake pictures will be given to parents until the originals have been returned.

If you should have any photo related questions, please direct them to Coffee Pond Customer Service at 800-632-2323 or [email protected].  Other questions may be directed to Wayne at [email protected].
WRITER'S WORKSHOP
On Tuesday, the third grade was treated to a writer's workshop from Peter Catalanotto, a published children's book author and illustrator.  He started his visit with an all-grade presentation and told the students how ideas become both written and illustrated stories. The children will develop their ideas further in their classroom writing.  This program was organized by the Arts in Education Committee and made possible by your generous donations to the Riverside School PTA.

ODYSSEY OF THE MIND: EXCITING OPPORTUNITY!
Are you or your kids interested in participating in an international competition around problem solving and creativity? The Odyssey of the Mind might be for you! You will need a team of 5-7 students and a parent or teacher volunteer to lead the team.  If interested, please contact Leila Horn at  greenwichodysseyofthemind@gmail.com .

GREEN TIP OF THE WEEK
Rechargeable Batteries - Choose rechargeable batteries, then recycle them with they die.  You'd have to use hundreds of single-use batteries to equal the energy you'd get out of one rechargeable battery.  Be sure to recycle all batteries to keep harmful metals from entering the environment.  Don't forget you can recycle your old batteries at school, right inside the doors!

UPCOMING PROGRAMS
