FRUIT & VEGGIE CHALLENGE: HOW TO EAT A RAINBOW
The Wellness Committee had a great time serving up healthy fruits and veggies at lunch time this week. Try doing it at home! Make it fun and aim for at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day. For some tips on how to do so, take a look at Whole Foods', one of our sponsors, "Better Bites" newsletter.
And to save a little money on the healthy foods you may be purchasing to eat a rainbow at home, you can download their coupon here
(for Riverside School families only).
Finally,
DON'T FORGET
to have your children complete their Fruit & Veggie Challenge charts and bring them into school on MONDAY, MARCH
20th
to be entered into the raffle to win a prize!

ARTS IN ED
During PE this week, the students were treated to a dance workshop. Under the instruction of Brian and Paul Herman from Double Up Dance Studio in Fairfield, the students learned and practiced hip-hop routines. Each grade level then performed their routine during an all-school assembly on Friday
afternoon. The students' energy and enthusiasm for dancing and performing was electric! Be sure to ask your student(s) to show you their routine!
This exciting program was funded by your generous PTA contributions.

GREEN TIP OF THE WEEK
The three Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
The concept behind the first R is that you cut back on amount of stuff you use and throw away. Here are just a few ideas to help you REDUCE this week:
- Use reusable shopping bags
- Avoid disposable dishes, utensils and napkins
- Pack your kids lunch in reusable containers
- Buy used clothes, toys and other goods instead of buying new
- Think before you buy, "Do I really need this?"
- Turn off the water when you're brushing your teeth.
