5TH GRADE COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT
Our 5th graders heard from both Neighbor to Neighbor and Robinhood Foundation this week to learn about local organizations that could use their help. Please ask you 5th grader about what they learned and encourage them to raise funds to donate towards our class project. We will be collecting their monetary donation of $5-$10 until Friday, Feb 2nd.

Don't Buy Something Today
This green tip asks you to do NOTHING, yet it runs counter to just about everything in human nature. Getting things -- food, shelter -- is hardwired into our brains. But green living isn't about products you buy, it's about products you don't buy. Just for one day, try to give your Amazon Prime account a break, resist that new purse, put your Visa card back in your wallet, and don't buy something that you probably don't need anyway. A NOTE FROM THE NURSE
If your child goes to the Doctor and is diagnosis with something contagious (such as Strep throat, Flu, 5th Disease or Coxsakie Virus) please have the Doctor fax (203-637-1004)
a note with the diagnosis. A health alert can only be sent after receiving the Doctor's note.
To date we have very few cases of flu at Riverside. If you think that your child has flu please keep them home and consult with your child's Doctor.

YOUR CHILD'S DIGITAL LIFE
Please mark your calendars for the following upcoming sessions led by Mrs. Browning:
- Tuesday, February 6th -- Familiarize Yourself with Our School's Research Tools and Databases
- Tuesday, March 6th -- Getting to Know Schoology and Google Drive
- Tuesday, April 3rd -- Power Apps Used in School
These sessions will run from 2-3pm in the Media Center. An additional evening session from 7-8pm is currently under consideration, depending on demand. The night session will run if there is enough interest.

. Our goal is to have all families at Riverside using this system. Also, there is a School Dismissal Manager (SDM) App available so you can make updates on the go! Please contact the front office if you no longer have the details for login.
This is especially important as the cold weather approaches as we may leverage this technology to help with our Emergency Early Release process.
