GREEN NEWS!
We are excited to announce that p artnering with PTAC Green Schools, the Food Service Department will be implementing Trayless Tuesdays beginning next week, April 24, 2018
What began as a successful student initiative in Parkway School a few years back, the program will now be rolled out district-wide. Serving an average of 2,700 meals a day, the district has a potential to reduce its use of polystyrene trays by 97,000 units. Developing menus that are paper boat friendly for Tuesdays will allow students to dine knowing they are taking positive steps to help the environment.

PTAC Essence Award 2018-Application deadline is April 30th, 2018.  This award is to recognize up to two outstanding PTA members of the Greenwich Public School system who through exemplary achievement have inspired others, demonstrated selfless spirit, and made a significant difference in our school community (individual school or district wide).

Parents, teachers, staff, students, principals, administrators, or members of the Greenwich community may submit nominations. Please take the time to nominate one of our amazing volunteers so they can be recognized for their contributions! The application (essay under 500 words) can be found here The awards ceremony will take place on May 29th at 10am at the Board of Education Building.
STORYTELLING WITH THE STORYTIME QUARTET
This past Monday, our first and second graders were treated to an enchanting morning of music and storytelling with the Storytime Quartet. The string quartet delighted our children with "Stories of Royalty" based on famous children's fairy tales, matched with string quartet music from classical composers of the 19th and 20th centuries. This program was organized by the Arts in Education Committee and made possible by your generous donations to the Riverside School PTA.
SIGNS OF SPRING!
It's hard to believe Spring is here, but there are buds if you look for them.  You will see daffodils and hyacinth emerging that children planted in the fall with volunteers from the Garden Committee.  And, the vegetable garden is full of milk jug greenhouses seedlings that classes have planted over the last couple of weeks. Stop by the garden to check on their progress!
