Remember to check your email every Sunday night to see what's going on at

Sassy Stitches!

Happy Sunday!
As many of you know, there has been a lot of road work going on around the shop. There's a chance the section of W. Palmer Street right in front of the shop will be closed this week. Remember that you can park across the street at Ace Hardware and walk across to the shop.  You can enter that parking lot behind Ace Hardware and avoid W. Palmer Street altogether.  We know road work is necessary but will be glad when it's done!  Regardless, Sassy Stitches will be open and ready for business!  (And Show & Tell, laughter, sewing, etc.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sassy Stitches is proud to announce that Andrea Walker of "Walker Quilting Company" will now be picking up quilts at the shop! Andrea's work is just stunning and we are so excited to have her on our team. Check out her website and you will be amazed at her gorgeous quilting!

you're not in a club, just come sew! These days have been set aside for you to use our classroom and the supplies while you fellowship with others and work towards completing projects.   BUT . . . YOU MUST RESERVE A SPOT.  We are limiting the number of people to 10 on each of the sewing days so if you are interested you need to call and reserve your spot.  It's totally free!  But we only have room for so many so let us know you're coming and we will let you know if there is still room. You can get into the classroom at 9:45 and sew until 4:00!  WOW!
Staff can answer questions and help you briefly but they will be working on the floor taking care of other business. This is not class time so please be respectful of our staff members. You can order lunch or bring your own. Come sew with us!   Did I mention it's FREE ?!?!?

This class is full! We are taking a list in case someone cancels and we will most likely have Janice back asap to give you another opportunity to take her class. Keep an eye on the newsletter for another class announcement!

Janice Pope will be teaching a class at Sassy Stitches where she will share with you everything you need to know about binding.  You will need to bring something to bind so be thinking about that and make plans to save something just for this class!
Quilting since 1977, students attending her classes describe Janice as passionate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and engaging. Whether teaching one of her simple quilt patterns, bag patterns, or a technique', novice as well as experienced quilters will leave with new insight and skills.
An award winning quilter who has taught both domestically and internationally, Janice resides in Raleigh, NC with her husband of 35+ years and enjoys having two of her six grandsons nearby. Check out her website at Anything But Boring.

New Rulers!
W e have the new rulers, rotary cutters, and mats from Quilters Select!  Y'all, these rulers WILL NOT slide or slip.  I have never seen anything like this!!!!!  You need to come try one out to see for yourself.  They are SEW amazing!  I bought one of the rulers a few months ago to try for myself.  I will never use anything else!  The rotary cutter is weighted and lessens the pressure you have to use to cut fabric.  AND it's ambidextrous!  The same rotary cutter is used for left handed or right handed folks.  The cutting mat is a little thicker than most and get this . . . it's reversible!  It's like buying two mats at one time!  The numbers for measuring on both the rulers and the mats go both ways.  In other words, you don't have to keep turning the ruler or count backwards on your mat!  Here is a link to their website.  Alex Anderson designed these awesome tools. Come by to try them out and check out the website for more into!

Show & Tell
Rebekah has become quite the quilter!  I showed her a few things to get her started on her first quilt a while back and she has become a quilting machine! The first picture is a quilt she made for her brother and soon-to-be sister in law.  We couldn't show it until now because it was a surprise. The next picture is a quilt she made for her Mom who happens to be a dear friend of mine. Beautiful work, Bek!

Linda made this beautiful "Take 5" quilt out of a Christmas panel and coordinating fabrics.  Gorgeous!

Alice is working on an amazing wool quilt.  Can't wait to see the finished product!  She's also working on an English Paper Piecing project.  WOW!

Brenda made this Christmas table runner out of a panel and log cabin blocks.  Nice!

We just love these little pattern  from "Little Bits!"

Ryan's Case for Smiles
Our charity focus at Sassy Stitches is Ryan's Case for Smiles. This is an organization that provides fun pillowcases for sick children .  ALL of our donations will be used in Asheville, NC at Mission Children's Hospital. I volunteered for this charity for several years and have personally delivered pillow cases to kids at Mission Children's Hospital and assure you it brings great joy to sick children to pick out a fun pillowcase. When you read the story about Cindy and her son, Ryan, you will understand what a great cause this is. It's the perfect charity for anyone who sews! Here is a link to the organization's website.
We will accept pillowcases, fabric donations for making pillow cases and monetary donations. If you choose to make pillowcases, there are tips on the website (see link above) about making them. The volunteers who take the pillowcases wash them before delivery. Something so simple as a fun pillowcase really does bring a smile to a sick child.  THANKS!
