SLOCUM NAMED NEW COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (March 15, 2017) - The Board of County Commissioners of Washington County are pleased to announce the selection of Robert Slocum as the next County Administrator.  
 
Previously, Slocum was Director of Engineering and Construction Management. As Director, Slocum oversaw the several capital projects such as the new Senior Activities Center and County Administrative Complex renovations.  Additionally, he has been instrumental in working with the Maryland Department of Transportation to get funding for various Interstate-81 projects.
 
As Director, Slocum implemented numerous changes that resulted in moving engineering and construction projects forward in a more efficient manner. Additionally, Slocum coordinated the work of the Division of Engineering and Construction Management and its departments to provide safe, timely and cost effective results while ensuring programs are in compliance with County, State and Federal regulations. 
 
"Robert Slocum has been an asset to Washington County Government for 15 years," stated Terry Baker, president, Washington County Commissioners.  "His experience and expertise in managing major projects will be a valuable asset as we continue the positive momentum, moving our County forward."
 
Slocum has been with the County since March 2002.  He attended the University of Arizona where he received a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering.
