Cutting and sewing homework is required.

Test-drive one of our computerized sewing machines to complete your quilt.

Edge to Edge Quilting in the Hoop
Teacher: Diane Juskelis
Saturday, February 3
Time: 10:00am-5:00pm

Have you wanted to use your embroidery machine for a new in-the-hoop technique?

Do you want to use your embroidery machine to quilt some of your projects?  If you answered yes to either of these, then this class is for you!

Learn the Edge-to-Edge Quilting Technique in the hoop while making 4 appliqued placemats.  Students will learn how to mark fabric, embroidery machine applique a leaf pattern, and edge-to-edge quilt all 4 placemats at one time.    You should be able to finish the placemats in class and then cut and bind them at home.

Your embroidery machine should have a hoop to fit a 158x 275mm (6.15x10.7") design.  For Pfaff and Viking owners this is the 360x200 mm hoop.  If your machine can only stitch a design that is 5x7" (240x150 mm hoop for Pfaff/Viking) you can take this class, however you may not be able to finish all the quilting in class due to the number of times you must hoop the quilting design.

For applique part of the project you will need a hoop to fit approximately a 5x5" design (either the 150x150 mm hoop for Pfaff/Viking owners or the 240x150 mm hoop).

Design files are available in the following formats: VP3, HUS, ART, DST, EXP, JEF and PES.

All students should know how to use the positioning function on their machine.

You must be familiar with how to operate your embroidery machine if you do not own a Pfaff or Viking machine.

Please bring a lunch.

This class is full, but please go to the link, and sign-up for the waiting list. We will let you know when there is another session scheduled.

Well, during this class, you will gain confidence as you follow the patterns in the book "180 Doodle Quilting Designs" to use continuous-line quilting designs that are adaptable to blocks, triangles and borders. From Moda -
Catnip precuts...we have the layer cakes, jelly rolls and charms for the Catnip line.

Also Red and Navy junior jelly rolls for our patriotic quilts.

From Studio E - Spring Is Sprung - The cutest spring fabric we have seen in a long time, the 36" wide panel could be used as is, or why not add the border print? Then the jelly beans or colored eggs for the backing and binding. Only 49 days till spring!

From Blank - American Honor - this wonderful patriotic line is perfect for Quilts of valor or any of your patriotic quilts.
108" wide backing!
From Blank - Sew Happy - This small group of basics has a small stipple printed on solid backgrounds.

From Blank - Kitty Kitty and Morning Mist are wonderful gray and black blenders that will work with any of the grays we already have in stock.

N EW BOOK!!!!!
Merry and Modern - This book starts out with 10 different pieced blocks, then adds a bit of applique for whimsy, and finally puts them all together in a variety of quilts and table runners. Definitely a Christmas book, but there is no reason the blocks could not be made out of other fabrics to make endless quilts and table runners by simply leaving out the applique.
