Ohio to Erie Trail Group Ride
Set for 2018

After last fall's announcement and invitation,  in true first-come-first-serve style, Keith Workman's offer to host an Ohio to Erie Trail group ride filled up quickly.   The rest of us can look forward to photos and reports about this adventure in late July and early August.  Once again, Keith has done an outstanding job of organizing an 8 day ride as a fundraiser for RTWC.

SAVE THE DATE!  Our 2018 Annual Membership Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 18 at 7:00 pm at Orrville High School.

Our speaker will be Dr. Randy Cronk, Professor of Psychology at Mt. Vernon Nazarene University.  Dr. Cronk is the long-serving president of the Kokosing Gap Trail in Knox County, a trail that has many parallels to our current Heartland Trail project for Wayne County, but is much farther along in its development. He will talk about the ways his board and volunteers maintain the 13 miles of paved trail between Mt. Vernon and Danville, Ohio, and how it has developed over the years. Dr. Cronk is an avid cyclist as well as a trail hand. He has great enthusiasm for trail connectivity across the state.  We look forward to meeting Dr. Cronk.

This is zoomed in to the existing trail section.  The zig zag line shows where the next section, our target project for 2019,  will pick up on the east side of N. Main Street, cut behind the Portico Plaza
to Allen Avenue and head north toward the industrial park.
From there it will continue on to Forrer Road.

RTWC Board Member Susan Baker enjoyed a cold January day Cross Country skiing on the County Line Trail.

She went 5.5 miles and saw three runners out there, too! "Although the temperature was in the teens," said Susan, "the sun was warm. I skied from Eby Rd to the police station in Creston and back."

Susan reported she saws plenty of rabbit and deer tracks, too.
