Romulus Public Library Newsletter
May 2018
The Library is pleased to announce that a generous donation has been received from Wings Financial Credit Union to sponsor this years’ Summer Reading Program. Assistant Director/Youth Services Librarian, Jessica Wilhoite, reached out to Wings Financial with a request for a summer reading sponsorship and they graciously answered the call. Other supporters of the program include the Huron Township Rotary Club who also made a substantial donation.

The library will put this money to good use by bringing in outside performers for families to enjoy, such as magician, Cameron Zvara and Exotic Zoo. Registration begins June 5 and the annual Summer Reading Carnival Kickoff will be held on Tuesday, June 19 at 6 p.m. The program runs eight weeks, ending on Tuesday, August 14 and the grand prize drawing will take place the week of August 20. Thank you to our supporters!

Online Catalog Unavailable
beginning at 6 p.m. May 25 - 28
The Library is upgrading to a new online catalog system and will be closed May 26-28 (Memorial Weekend) to complete the migration. The online catalog will be unavailable beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, May 25 through Monday, May 28. No hold requests, renewals, e-book checkouts, or any other activity will be available during this time. Fifty area libraries in The Library Network (TLN) will be affected by the upgrade. We apologize for the interruption in service, but expect the new system to be a great improvement for our patrons.
MeLCat Services
In preparation for the library's migration to a new online catalog system , MeLCat services were suspended April 1, 2018 with a tentative resume date of July 1, 2018. MeLCat requests will not be taken during this period, but any previously checked out MeLCat items may still be returned to the Library. Thank you for your patience as we get ready for our new system.
Friends of the Library Book Sale Best Yet!
Thanks to the good work and dedication of the Friends of the Library, the April book sale raised over $500 for Library programming. The Friends of the Library is a volunteer organization whose purpose is to serve as advocates of the Library and raise funds that support programs and one-time purchases not in the regular library budget

Membership in the Friends is only $10/year and is open to anyone who believes that the Library is vital to our community whether you wish to make a donation, volunteer at a book sale, or offer other support with your time and talents. For more information or to join the Friends, click here or stop by the Library.
Thank you for your Feedback
Thank you to those who participated in the Library Community Feedback Sessions and to those who filled out our Survey. The data has been compiled and will be reviewed by the Strategic Planning Committee for consideration in our three-year plan. For more information on the planning process, contact Library Director, Patty Braden at 734-942-7589.
