"Section 8," Ohio University's original male a cappella singing group, will provide the musical entertainment during the annual Ohio University-Chillicothe Heritage Day event. Members of the campus and area community are invited to attend. Wine, other beverages and heavy snacks will be provided.

Founded in 1991, Section 8 began as an eight-member collegiate a cappella ensemble, born out of the Singing Men of Ohio, the Ohio University Men's Glee Club. Section 8 has grown over the year from eight to 17, to now 15 members. The group released their first CD, "We May Be Disturbed..." in October 2003 and another in 2012 called "That's Okay Here."

Heritage Day is designed to offer a homecoming-style event on a commuter campus and connect with community members, many of whom are former students.

A new feature of this event will be the announcement of community service awards to recognize current students and recent alumni who are making a positive difference in their communities.

"Almost, Mr. Edison, Almost!" Featuring Hank Fincken of A National Theatre Company of One, living historian, author, playwright, and award-winning theatrical artist, Indianapolis. Born before the California gold rush and dying during the Great Depression, Thomas Alva Edison helped make America a world power, not with weapons but with insights into how all things work and how things can be made to work better. He became the poster child of what American is supposed to be: a land of infinite opportunity. He was a dreamer. Under his watch, possibilities blossomed into realities. His inventions include the fluoroscope, the alkaline storage battery, the phonograph, the motion picture camera, the megaphone, the microphone, the improved telephone, and the electric light system. Edison wasn't afraid of the dark; just brought it to light. Some say he invented the 20th century. Learn the complete story as only Hank Finchen of "A National Theatre Company of One" can tell it.
