Why I Participate...
Most WM students participate in at least one extracurricular activity each year. What do they love about their WM activities? You might be surprised to know that it's not all about winning and awards:

Superintendent Finalists

After an extensive vetting and interview process, and with the help of a large community interview panel, the school board selected three finalists for the WM superintendent position.

  • Greg Winter (Braham Superintendent)
  • Bob Hennen (WM High School Principal)
  • Ron Wilke (La Crescent-Hokah Superintendent)

All students, parents, staff and community members are invited to participate in the finalist forum. Interact with the finalists, ask them questions, and provide feedback to the board before the final interviews.

Math Modeling Class Visits U

The WMHS College in the Schools (CIS) Math Modeling class visited the University of Minnesota for a field day in March. WMHS students collaborated with CIS Math Modeling students from across the state to create and present mathematical models.

Kenny Thurk, Christian Donovan and Logan Vanwatermulen presented their model on the spread of disease. They researched three different diseases and used simulation software to determine which disease was most dangerous. The class instructors voted on the presentations, and these young men received 1st place! They did an outstanding job and worked very hard to earn this award. Go Royals!

Mock Trial Places Eighth At State!
Members of the Watertown-Mayer Mock Trail team placed eighth during the State Tournament held March 5-6, 2015. Charles Chadwick, a WM sophomore, was selected as an All State Attorney. Nine WM state participants will return next year, with five members graduating. Congratulations team!
Band Trip
The WM band performed in Lincoln Center, enjoyed The Lion King on Broadway, made it to the top of the Empire State Building and so much more during their spring break trip to New York City. Students strengthened their friendships and will enjoy the memories of this trip for many years to come!
ECFE Birthday Party!

Celebrate the 40th birthday of ECFE with the Bazillions! The kid-friendly rock band will perform at the WM Primary School on Thursday, April 16, from 6:30-7:15 p.m. Admission is FREE for this great event sponsored by the ECFE Advisory Council!

Hennen Testifies At The State Capitol

State legislators invited WMHS Principal Bob Hennen to testify about the benefits of College in the Schools courses. Several legislators hope to make more funding available to all Minnesota high schools for CIS classes.

WMHS has one of the top 10 CIS programs in the state. Our 2014 graduates left WMHS with more than 1188 college credits. Nearly 70% of the Class of 2014 left with college credits in hand.
