It's Almost Time...
The halls won't be empty (or super-shiny) for long...school starts in 15 days!

Our school district employees have spent many hours preparing for the upcoming year and they're almost ready!

Make the most of these last few days of summer vacation! We'll see you soon!

Open Houses
Open houses provide the perfect time for parents and students to meet teachers, ask questions, find lockers, and learn which friends will be in their classrooms for the year.

Students are encouraged to bring their school supplies to their open house so everything is ready to go on the first day of school.

Click on these links for school supply lists: Primary School, Elementary School, or Middle School. If you are able to pick up a few extra supplies, donations are welcome!

9th grade orientation: 7:00 at the PAC (during iPad distribution)

iPad Distribution
iPad distribution will take place on Tuesday, August 19, and Wednesday, August 20, from 4:30-8:00 at the HS Main Gym. Parents of returning students in grades 5-12 can drop off iPad forms, purchase optional insurance, and pick up student iPads on these nights.

Parents of returning students in 4th grade and parents of new students in grades 4+, must call the district office to sign-up for an orientation and enrollment session. Before the orientation, parents of students under age 13, must create an "under 13 Apple ID".

Contact Colleen Hoffman at 952-955-0484 with questions or to schedule your orientation session.

Survey: How are we doing?
Is the Watertown-Mayer school district meeting the needs of the students and the community? If you are 18 years old or older, please share your opinion by filling out our online survey. The results of the 12-question survey will help administrators understand community perception and priorities. The survey, which is also posted on the school district homepage, will remain open until September 15. All responses are anonymous.
Activities and Athletics Underway
Even though classes haven't started, activities are already gearing up for the 2014-15 school year. We've spotted the yearbook crew, fall athletes, band members and choir members on campus.

Music specialists, Ryan Werdon and Kate Lust, instructed students in a 5-day vocal music camp. Students in grades 1-8 performed music with movement, rhythmic instruments, folk songs and fun music games.

Summer Youth Theatre
Summer Youth Theatre's 26th production was a huge hit! The Haunted Hall of Champions! was presented at the PAC in late July, featuring dozens of talented WM students and original music composed by WM alum Lauren Salonek. Our new WMPS music teacher, Hannah Rosholt, directed the musical and also co-wrote the original script with 1st grade teacher (and her husband), Jake Rosholt.
Playing = Learning
Learning through play builds collaboration and critical thinking skills for all students! These boys wanted a robot to sit next to this summer. Check out their awesome creation----->

Improved Security at WMMS
Modifications to the MS entrance will enhance security at the school. A new office door is being added between the double set of doors. Once the school day has started, the first set of doors and the new door to the office will remain open, but the second set will be locked. All visitors will be required to pass through the office, sign in, and receive their visitor pass before they enter the school hallways.

At the HS, a camera will be installed at the front door. After school begins, the main doors will be locked, and HS office personnel will admit visitors with a buzzer system.

Our Mission: To create an environment where each student feels connected and experiences multiple educational opportunities that will encourage and facilitate a lifelong desire to learn.
