Run Away or Obey?

 ,

When we look at the huge need in Alajuelita, it can be so overwhelming that we're tempted to say, "No matter what we do, it's not going to make a difference."  At times, we feel so worn out, stressed and alone that we're not sure we can take another step.  Even Elijah got tired and wanted to run away (1 Kings 19:4-5).

But we won't quit.  Because we know personally so many people there who need help.  But even more than that, we know that God has commanded all Christians to care for the poor and reach out to those in need.  (Matthew 25:31-46)

And so, each time, we return with a greater sense of urgency and purpose and focus.    And, with your help, we are making a difference.

We Wish You Could See What We See

Every time we pass through the gates of Love At Work International Christian School (LAWI Christian School), we think about your generous support.  We wish you could see what we see . . . and experience first hand what your support is accomplishing.  Why?  Because God takes what you give, blesses it, multiplies it, then uses it to transform peoples' lives.

Arriving at the school where 70 kids spend their day, you're greeted with smiles, waves, songs and MANY hugs.  Each one eager to tell you, "Oh, we have missed you so much!"  What better expression of love and gratitude could one receive?  You talk to the teachers, and they tell you about the changes they're seeing in the lives of these children and how the school is enriching their own lives!

We thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for playing a vital role in the lives of these children and families!!

Diversity and Unity

One of best things about the school is its incredible diversity, which is greatly expanding the opportunities for impacting the community.   Unlike what is going on around the world, that's coming apart at its seams because of racial, ethnic, socio-economic and religious hatred . . . the school is growing stronger not weaker.  God is working to instill unity and create peace.  Only in Jesus Christ does this ultimate oneness come.

Three Students in University!

Next February, three students will be in the university!!  Thanks to what they have gained here, they will leave the school with conviction and confidence knowing:  what they believe, who they are in Jesus Christ and Whom they will serve.  These will be among the most prized qualities from their education here.

Above all, we give God the glory for everything that is being accomplished here.  He has been faithful to us beyond our deserving, and our most precious honor is being one of His children, one of His servants
The Rich Man and Lazarus

The Father sent His Son out of an incredible heart of love (John 3:16), and on the heart of God was that no one should perish.  Only God knows the full, horrific extent of what it means to perish for eternity, and He does not want that to happen to anyone.

In Luke 16, Jesus tried to give a picture of a rich man who ended up in hell.   And He said that the man cried out when he saw Abraham in heaven and said, "'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire."   And the answer came back that there's a great gulf fixed between here and there.  He answered, "Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, I have five brothers.  Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment."

Jesus Christ is now living out His life in you, desperately wanting to lay over your heart what's on the heart of God - that NO ONE SHOULD PERISH.  The understanding of this reality has been a massive motivation in the hearts of those serving in this ministry.

God's Love Working In and Through YOU

It's God's love - working in and through you - that makes it possible for Love At Work Ministries to reach out in big ways and small ways to hurting people.  Here are two of the many ways you can share God's love with others:

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.  We want to make the school as affordable and accessible as possible to families of Alajuelita.  We're finding that parents want to take personal responsibility for their child's education.  But many need a "hand up" in the form of financial assistance, some more than others.

Going forward, with your help, more partial scholarships will be awarded to more students and fewer full scholarships.  This means you can give any amount that God lays on your heart, and it will do something amazing!  Don't feel like you cannot participate because you could never provide a full scholarship.  Because  your donation will be put with somebody else's, and there will be enough to provide the financial assistance that a family needs.

EXPANSION OF THE SCHOOL.  The word is spreading . . . this school is the "REAL DEAL."   Parents, students and teachers are looking for a rich experience where students not only get a phenomenal education, but also become well grounded in truth, in Christian values, and in relationships with God and one another.

Next year, we will DOUBLE the student population - from 70 to 140 students!!  $50,000 is needed to expand the school facility and add several classrooms.

If you are in a position to make a larger gift to construct a classroom or add equipment, it will be so tangible and so immediate in its effect on the students, their families and the community.

And, with the markets remaining strong, it is a great year to donate shares of appreciated stocks and mutual funds, because you can enjoy a current year tax deduction while avoiding payment of capital gains taxes.

Thank You!

There is no better feeling that you get when you share just a little bit of love with some wonderful people.  If you take what God gives you and give it back to Him, He'll multiply it in amazing ways.  When you share, lives are changed.

So we thank you so much and invite you to be a bigger part of what's happening here.

Love At Work Ministries is committed to reaching as many people as possible with the Gospel - whenever, wherever  and however we can.  The great news is, together, WE CAN DO IT!!
