The Douglas A Medley Scholarship Benefit
A benefit spaghetti dinner with bake sale, silent auction and MUCH, MUCH entertainment to benefit the Douglas A Medley Scholarship. The scholarship is given annually to a Watertown High School senior interested in pursuing an education or science degree in college. The scholarship is managed by Northern New York Community Foundation and all proceeds will be given to the scholarship. There will be entertainment by Stagenotes, Rhonda's Footeworks, Craig Sirianni Studios, Watertown Lyric Theater, Case Middle School and the local rock band, "Lost Cause". Sing Your Heart Out Karaoke Contest
It's time to sing your heart out for heart disease at the 2nd Annual "Sing Your Heart Out" Karaoke Contest on Friday, April 7, 2017, at Savory Downtown starting at 7:30 p.m. to benefit the North Country Heart Walk.
Karaoke lovers are invited to belt out their favorite tune for cash prizes. Contestants can win $100 for "Best Solo Performance;" $50/person for "Best Duet," and $50 for "Most Entertaining." However, if singing isn't your forte, the public is invited to sit back and enjoy a night of entertainment for a great cause.

Let's Talk About Asthma
Carthage Area Hospital continues its 2017 Community Engagement Series on Wednesday, April 26, with a focus on asthma awareness and respiratory health.
"Let's Talk About Asthma" is scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Carthage Elks Lodge, 511 Fulton St. The event is free and open to the public and includes complimentary buffet dinner and beverages.
"This series is presented as a public service to encourage residents to take an active role in their health," said Natalie Burnham, Carthage Area Hospital director of patient and community engagement. "An informed patient fills an important seat on his or her healthcare team."
The Hospital is pleased to introduce five dynamic speakers from its staff of providers who will discuss a range of asthma-related topics, including: childhood asthma, adult asthma, respiratory medications, and the impact that respiratory conditions have on breathing.
Dr. Diane Jones, D.O., pediatric physician and director of the Carthage Pediatric Clinic, will speak about childhood asthma; Christopher Mueller, RPA-C, and Kelsey Mollura, PA, both physician assistants at the Carthage Family Health Center, will speak about adult asthma; Dr. Christopher Bradley, PharmD, MBA, a clinical pharmacist at Carthage Area Hospital, will provide an overview of respiratory system medications; and Dr. Cheryl Tousant, PT, DPT, director of physical therapy at Carthage Area Hospital, will discuss how breathing affects respiratory conditions.

5K Run for Veterans
The 4th annual 5K Run for Veterans will be held on Sunday May 21 at Thompson Park to raise funds and awareness for the Veteran's Outreach Center in Watertown, NY who assist Veterans in need. The walk/run will being at 10am with registration starting at 8:30am at the Thompson Park Pavilion.

Healthy Cooking Classes for Children
Carthage Area Hospital is pleased to offer a new healthy cooking class for children. Classes are taught by Registered Dietician Carly Draper and Dietary Director, Richard Fields. Each month, there is a featured topic and featured foods. This is a great opportunity for those looking to learn how to cook or even our young "foodies," who are looking to expand their skills. Must be 12 years of age or older. Space is limited to 10 children per class.
