The Dandy - A great start to our running season.

Run the Kingdom
Six Great Runs

Registration is now open for Run the Kingdom 2015 www.kingdomgames.co

As we head into November, there's no better way to beat the blues than pull out the skiis and skates or REGISTER FOR NEXT YEAR'S RUNS.  We now offer six great runs, all on dirt roads, the Newport-Derby Bike Path, or the Memphremagog Ski Touring Foundation Trails.  Adult rates remain the same as they were in 2014.  Adults: $50 for each event 10 miles or more, $35 for 10K or less.  Want to run them all?  $135 for our Season Running Pass.

What a great year we had in 2014!  The Dandelion Run and the Harry Corrow Freedom Run continue to grow.  The Echo Lake Road Race and Swim was new to us but a classic in our community   Kingdom Marathon received nothing but rave reviews for its beauty and its challenge.  And we always have a blast at our upcoming Halloween Hustle and Newport Santa Run

Here's the lineup for 2015.

May 23, 2015 - Seventh Annual Dandelion Run

We can say without hesitation that "The Dandy" is one of the most beautiful, most fun, and most challenging half marathons in the northeast.  Readers of Vermont Sports Magazine selected The Dandy as one of the five most scenic running races in Vermont.  In 2011, Yankee Magazine selected it as one of the 20 best events in Vermont.  The course is laid out largely on dirt roads and is run in High Spring, when the world famous dandelion fields of Morgan, Holland and Derby are blanketed with millions of dandelions for as far as the eye can see.

We also offer a "friendlier" 10K option and a 6 person 10K youth relay.  Wonderful to see runners age 4 to 78 out on the course.  Fiddle and bluegrass music at every relay station, at the Dandy Dinner the night before, and at the Derby Beach House at our picnic after the run. All together, just a great celebration of spring in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom.   It's May!  It's Time to Run!  Just for the Fun of it!

July 4, 2015 - Fifth Annual Harry Corrow Freedom Run

A 10 mile trail run along the bike path and into the Memphremagog Ski Touring Foundation Trails, plus a 10K, 5K and 1 mile run.  Freedom from the tyranny of Asphalt.  Freedom of Choice of Route.  Celebrating Freedom:  Freedom from Asphalt.  Freedom of Choice of Routes.  Freedom from Tyranny. Great trails and wonderful views up the lake.  This event is run in collaboration with Newport City Parks and Recreation Department and Memphremagog Ski Touring Foundation.  Bed races and a great 4th of July party in Gardner Park following the run.

August 22 and 23, 2015 - 23rd Annual Echo Lake Road Race & Swim

5 or 10 miles (one or two loops) on dirt roads around Echo Lake in East Charleston, VT.  This is a classic road race with a new twist.  Run in the morning.  Bike in the afternoon.  Swim on Sunday.  Makes for great individual events and an even better stage triathlon.

October 4, 2015 - Second Annual Kingdom Marathon - Doin' the Dirt - Pie to Pie

Without doubt, this run is one of the toughest, most beautiful dirt road marathon courses this side of the Mississippi.  Run at the height of Fall Foliage.  Three distances: Marathon (26.2), Half Marathon (13.5) and Iconoclast (17.5).  The Marathon distance offers two person and four person relays.  All abilities and ages of runners, bikers, and hikers will find these "vista riddled" routes perfect for them.

We are thrilled to be partnering with Kingdom Trails, Craftsbury Outdoor Center, Old Stonehouse Museum, Northwoods Stewardship Center each of which will receive 5% of all US adult registration fees.  The support of Parker Pie and the Barton Area Chamber of Commerce adds some real punch.  A glorious time to celebrate the height of fall foliage through "the gut" of the Northeast Kingdom.  And the "Pies are on Parker" to any and all of who make it to West Glover one way or another.  Great Beer will also be "on tap" at THE PIE PARTY AT PARKER..

October 31, 2015 - Sixth Annual Halloween Hustle

A positively ghoulish 10 K, 5 K and 1 mile costume run that is nothing short of total i-n-s-a-n-i-t-y.  We start in downtown Newport and run the bike path north to the turnarounds.  This event is held in conjunction with Newport Rec Department's All Hallow's Eve Festival with other activities planned in downtown Newport on one of our favorite holidays of the year.

December 5, 2014 - Second Annual Newport Santa Run

Ho! Ho! Ho! Join the Fun.  Join the Santa Run! 5K and 1 mile runs held in conjunction with Newport's Santa Festival and Santa Parade.  We have SOOOOO MUCH FUN marching in the Santa Parade and then running out to Prouty Beach and back "To Touch the Tail of the Fish" at the Finish.  Great good fun to run in a Santa Suit with all ages.

Hope to see you in 2015, if not sooner.  REGISTER HERE  and join us for one or more of these great runs in 2015.
