Summer Reading
There is still time to join our 2017 Summer Reading Program for children in kindergarten through 6th grade.  We reward children with small prizes for continued reading throughout the summer.  You may sign up anytime during the summer, but the sooner the better so that more prizes can be achieved!

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
"Build a Better World" Magic Show
Friday, August 18, 3:00pm
Juggling, comedy, construction fun, and jaw-dropping magic!

For children ages 4-11.

No registration required.
Pet Photo Contest
Saturday, October 14, 11am - 3pm

Show off your cat or dog in the Friends of the Library's Pet Photo Contest!  Entries will be accepted from September 9th through October 7th.  Start working on capturing that perfect picture of your dog or cat!

A panel of judges will award prizes in six categories: Most Beautiful Cat, Most Beautiful Dog, Cutest Cat, Cutest Dog, Most Whimsical Cat, and Most Whimsical Dog.  Additionally, the audience can vote on a People's Choice award for $1.00 per vote.
The entry fee is $3 per photo or 2 for $5.  All entries should be submitted with the entry form to the library by October 7th

Anyone age 18 or older may enter to win a cat or a dog raffle basket.  Raffle basket tickets will be available for $1 each from September 9th through October 14th

Judging will take place on October 14th from 10am to 11am and prizes will be awarded between 3pm and 3:30pm to the winners in each category. 

Between 11am and 3pm a veterinarian, a groomer, a trainer, and the owner of Rodney the therapy dog will be available to answer any questions you have.  Cat and dog books will be available for purchase, and kids will have a chance to make a cat mask.  Pictures of shelter pets available for adoption will also be on display.

Drop-In Story Time

Join us for stories, songs, and fun!  Make new friends and get ready for reading.  For children from infants to 5 years of age and their parents or caregivers.  No registration required.

ADULT PROGRAMS
Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspots
Rutherford residents, ages 18 and older, can now borrow mobile Wi-Fi hotspots from the library! These are great for those who may not have an internet connection at home, have temporarily lost their home connection (or ran out of data!), or even when traveling.
Hotspots can be borrowed for two weeks at a time and can be reserved on the same page as museum passes.

English Conversation Group

English language learners are invited to attend the English Conversation Group, which provides a good opportunity to practice spoken English in an informal group setting. 

The conversation group meets on:

Thursday afternoons - 1:00pm - 2:30pm

Museum Pass Program

Rutherford residents, the Rutherford Public Library has partnered with 15 museums to provide free entry passes which you may check out with your library card.

 

Passes can be reserved up to 60 days in advance by calling the library at (201) 939-8600 or online.
