Garden State Ballet presents
The Nutcracker
at the Rutherford Library
Saturday, December 16, 1pm
Garden State Ballet will hold its annual performance of "The Nutcracker" at the Rutherford Library on Saturday, December 16th beginning at 1pm. Light refreshments will follow. Admission is free and all are welcome!

The Caboose Mystery
Friday, December 15, 4:00pm
Full Effect Productions presents "The Caboose Mystery." Join us for a train themed family magic show and search for clues to solve a mystery with Steve the Magic Conductor.

This program is for kids ages 4 through 11. No registration is required. We thank the Friends of the Library for their generous funding of this program.
Robotics Workshop
Children ages 8, 9, and 10 years old are invited to participate in our robotics workshop!

During these workshops, students will follow step-by-step instructions to construct and code their robots using suggested programs with LEGO Robotics Kits and laptops. Students will learn engineering and robotics concepts as well as cooperation and teamwork. 

This program will be conducted on Wednesday, December 13 and  20 from 4:30pm - 5:30pm. If you are registering for this program, you need to be able to attend both days.

Registration is now in progress and space is very limited, so register early!
Drop-In Story Time

Join us for stories, songs, and fun! Make new friends and get ready for reading. For children from infants to 5 years of age and their parents or caregivers. No registration required.

Paws to Read
We welcome back Rodney and Yogi, registered Bright and Beautiful therapy dogs, for our Paws to Read program. 

Yogi will be visiting our library on Tuesday, December 12 from 4:00pm - 5:00pm.

Rodney will be at the library on Tuesday, December 19  from 4:00pm - 5:00pm .
Children who are able to read at least a little bit and would like to be able to practice their reading skills are invited to sign up for a 15 minute time slot with Rodney or Yogi. Parents may, of course, accompany their child during their time with the dog.

Our CoderDojo program teaches children how to code and develop computer programs and games, and to explore technology in an informal and creative environment.

ESL Classes
Our free ESL classes are intended for beginner to intermediate level students and are taught by a certified ESL instructor. Class size is limited.
Classes meet on:

ESL classes will end  Thursday, December 14 and begin again on Tuesday, January 16 .

Registration is required and can be done in-person at the library.
English Conversation Group
English language learners are invited to attend the English Conversation Group, which provides a good opportunity to practice spoken English in an informal group setting. The conversation group meets on:

Monday mornings  - 10:00am - 11:30am
Thursday afternoons - 1:00pm - 2:30pm

The English Conversation Group will continue to meet through December and January.

No registration required.
Museum Pass Program
Rutherford residents, the Rutherford Public Library has partnered with 15 museums to provide free entry passes which you may check out with your library card.
Passes can be reserved up to 60 days in advance by calling the library at (201) 939-8600 or online .
