Help Protect the West Branch of Kingdom Trails
Sidewinder
Dear Friends of Kingdom Trails,

In early 2015, a 133-acre property-known as the West Branch land came on the market. There was a risk that it could be sold to a private individual and that recreational access to the land would be lost. The property contains several popular trails including Sidewinder, Old Webs, Hogback, West Branch, West Bench, Meadow Wood, and Border.

The Kingdom Trail Association considered the implications of this sale for the many users of the trail network and contacted the Vermont Land Trust. On March 5, the Kingdom Trails Association signed a contract to purchase the land. If this effort is successful, the Kingdom Trail Association will buy the land and the Vermont Land Trust will conserve it. In addition to the property's renowned trails, there is nearly a mile of frontage along the West Branch of the Passumpsic River. These areas provide significant wetland habitat; and protecting this land will support water quality

We now need to raise the money to purchase and conserve the land. To date, we have received funding  from the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board, the Davis Conservation Foundation, and donations from public members and supporters. Together we have raised $225,000 towards the purchase price of $300,000.

With $75,000 remaining
, we need the help of those who love the property most: those who bike, walk, and ski there, and those who appreciate the trails' incredible contribution to the region. This is a unique opportunity to protect a recreational treasure. We hope you will help.
