Words from the Chairwoman

I am very honored to be the new Chairwoman of SACC-Georgia and all of us from the chamber thank you for your support of the organization. As you know, we had a very productive year in 2013, starting with a visit from Swedish banker and Chairman of Investor AB, Jacob Wallenberg, and culminating with our signature Lucia Gala, which continues to be one of SACC-GA's biggest and most successful events.

We hope you will continue the journey with us into 2014 and beyond.  Our top priority this year is to connect our members with other relevant Swedish and US companies, making others more aware of your companies and brands and creating new business opportunities for our members.  If you are not a member of SACC-Georgia yet, now is a great time to get involved.

Please email our Business Development Coordinator Ozer Kocdemir at [email protected] for more information.

We also are pleased to announce our Annual Meeting and Member Appreciation Day on March 26, 2014.  Only current members of SACC-Georgia may attend the Annual Meeting. We will follow up with the appreciation reception, which will be free for members and open to non-members for a fee.  Please be on the lookout for your invitation and we sincerely hope you can attend!  This is a great opportunity to share ideas, get more involved and make new connections.

As we look to the future, we will need your help in letting us know what we can do for you.  We hope you will reach out to us with any suggestions, ideas, or questions.  We look forward to a great partnership with you in your future endeavors!

Warm regards,

The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce - Georgia's 28th Annual Lucia Gala

The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce, Georgia held its 28th annual Lucia Gala on Saturday, December 14th, at the Biltmore Ballroom in Midtown Atlanta. This is a signature event for the Swedish community, and the gala celebrates the ancient tradition of Saint Lucia.  This year's Lucia was performed by renowned singer Emily Samson Tepe, aka, IVA. Acclaimed by Billboard magazine, she has appeared on Conan O'Brien and has been described as "Madonna meets Enya". She recently performed for the Swedish king and queen during their recent visit to the U.S. for the 375th anniversary of the arrival of Swedish settlers.

After the Lucia procession, guests took part in a traditional Swedish Christmas Smorgasbord and entertainment included dancing to The Francisco Vidal Band.  More than 170 guests from the Swedish-Atlanta community attended.
