Austin, Texas: Finally the worst of the heat has left the state, and fall has arrived in Texas. It's the best time of the year to be outside, and as a result many great events happen here during the fall.
Particularly in Austin we are fortunate to host visitors from all over the world during the Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL), and the United State Gra
nd Prix - Formula One race.
We're always excited to see Swedish participation in these events, and both Tove Lo and First Aid Kit made us proud at ACL this year. I always set up camp at ACL with a big Swedish flag, and it's exciting to see how many people there are that recognize our flag and come up and say hi.
We also had Swedish participation in the F1 race with Marcus Ericsson (from Kumla) driving for Sauber. He was nowhere near the top, but considering there are only 20 drivers in the whole world that drive F1, just being in that group is pretty special. It's also pretty special to be a Swede in Texas. Remember that this holiday season!

Report from SACC - Summit 2017 in Boston
SACC-USA and SACC-New England:
On October 25-26 2017, SACC-USA and SACC New England hosted the annual networking event SACC Summit in Boston.
Members, business partners and chamber representatives were invited, whereof SACC Texas had six chamber representatives present.

SACC -Texas Golf Tournament in Houston
Houston, Texas:
We're happy to announce a successful SACC Texas Golf tournament which was held on November 4th at the Tour 18 Golf Court located in Houston.
The event was ample fun for all teams who joined in! In all, we had 3 teams from Dallas, 2 teams from Austin and 1 team from Houston competing in a good old Texas Scramble. Our winner this year was Dallas (Wiberg, Hultman, Greene, Sanchez) who scored an amazing 62 in gross score as a team. Congratulations!
Next year's tournament will be held in Austin.

HAPPENINGS IN TEXAS
Ericsson opens a design center in Texas
Austin Texas:
Ericsson opens a design center in Austin. The focus will be on microelectronics and accelerating the commercialization of 5G.
According to the press release, the design center is already open and recruitment of staff is under way. The aim is to have 80 employees by mid-2018.
"Together with our ASIC design teams in Sweden and China, we will make faster, better and greener 5G products to expand Ericsson's 2019 portfolio," says Sinisa Krajnovic, Development Manager for Unit Networks.
ASIC stands for Application Specific Integrated Circuit and is an integrated circuit that has a specific function.

SAS to fly directly to Austin from Stockholm during SXSW
Austin Texas:
Back in September SAS announced that they will charter two direct flights from Stockholm to Austin during next year's SXSW festival in March. This will be the first time that Arlanda gets a direct line to
the capital of Texas.

Mobile Passport Station in Houston
Houston, Texas:
The Swedish Embassy in Washington, DC offers a special consular service by using a mobile photo station that enables Swedish citizens to apply for regular passports at a number of Swedish Consulates in the U.S.
The mobile passport station will be in Houston on March 20 - 22, 2018
