News for the Parents of Saint Andrew Catholic School
March 6, 2018
Dear Families,

Happy Three-Days-Until-Spring-Break! But who's counting, right? Your students have worked so hard this quarter --- and so have the teachers! I am so proud of all of them.

When I worked at Nolan Catholic, Father Larry was the President. I always remember him this time of year because he would comment on how long it feels from February to March. He called "Farch" the month that wouldn't end. And then, just when you feel like you desperately need a recharge, Spring Break arrives! We are almost there!

Thanks for all you do to partner with our teachers and staff in support of Saint Andrew Catholic School. I hope you have a relaxing, refreshing and rejuvenating Spring Break. Then, let's have a strong fourth quarter finish!

Only by His Grace,
Veronica Tucker

LENTEN SOUP AND SANDWICH
It is not too late to help!

Every year the SAS Home and School Association is responsible for a Lenten Soup and Sandwich for those who attend the weekly Wednesday 11:00am Mass during Lent. We have a reputation of always being one of the best during the Lenten Season! This year we are hosting our lunch tomorrow, Wednesday, March 7th. We are in need of sandwiches, soups in crock pots and volunteers to setup or help serve.   Please  click here  to sign up to help.  Please email Rebecca White or Lisa Harrington with questions.

Thank you for your help in making this Lenten lunch special!

LENTEN DRIVE FOR CATHOLIC CHARITIES
Giving alms, Jesus teaches, means making the needs of others our own, especially the needy of our world. This year our School Wide Giving Challenge for the season of Lent will benefit Catholic Charities House of Hope Project which provides basic needs for thousands of people each year.

We hope that all students will be inspired to donate one item each week during Lent to help transform a life. Boxes for donations will be located in the front foyer.

Items Most Needed for:
The KITCHEN:  Hand Sanitizer in full size bottles
The PANTRY:  Pop-top Cans of Chicken or Tuna & Hearty Soups
The BATHROOM:  Bath Towels*
The NURSERY:  Onesies*
 *can be gently used items

Thank you for your servant hearts and for responding to God's call to love our neighbors.

CHRISM MASS
On March 27th  at 5:30 pm, our diocese will celebrate the Chrism Mass at Saint Patrick Cathedral. At this Mass, the bishop blesses three oils - the oil of catechumens (oleum catechumenorum  or oleum sanctorum ), the oil of the infirm (oleum infirmorum ) and holy chrism (sacrum chrisma ). These are the chrisms that will be used in the administration of the sacraments throughout the diocese for the upcoming year. This is a beautiful celebration for your children to witness. For this reason, we would like to have a group of students present representing Saint Andrew. We need to submit numbers to the diocese for how many students may attend. Please e-mail Veronica Tucker by March 20th  if your family is able to make arrangements to attend.
