News for the Parents of Saint Andrew Catholic School

Dear Families,
As the school year winds down, we find ourselves faced with the "firsts" of many "lasts". Tomorrow is our last Mass with our 8th grade students. How fitting that our 1st grade students will lead this Mass. At the close of the Mass, all of our almost-graduates will come forward to be recognized by their entire school family. This is one of my favorite Saint Andrew traditions. The look of admiration in the eyes of the younger students is heart-warming. As adults, we know it won't be long until they are the ones on the altar. On Monday, these same 8th-graders will parade the halls in their gowns walking down the hallways for one last time as Saint Andrew students. On Monday, we will also recognize and honor our students earning various academic awards. This is another opportunity for all students to set their own bar high and witness what they have to strive towards. Each of your students have accomplished amazing things this year. I pray that you are celebrating all their victories as we inch ever closer to the finish line of May 30th.
Only By His Grace,
Veronica Tucker

Can you believe there are only 2 weeks left of school? This year has flown by! Thank you all for your patience, kindness and encouragement as we learned the ropes here at Saint Andrew, it has been a wonderful journey.
As the year closes there are several things to keep in mind:
1. Sports Physicals will once again be done at the UNT Health Science center. The date is August 11, but times have not been posted. Keep in mind that any child who wishes to play school sports, MUST have a physical completed on or after June 1.
2. If your child has medication in the clinic it MUST be picked up by the last day of school or it will be properly disposed of. We can not store medications here over the summer.
3. Every student who needs medication kept in the clinic- whether prescription or over the counter we MUST have a new form filled out every year. If your child has an Epinepherine Pen due to allergic reactions, a new Allergy plan of care will also be needed. You can download the medication permit from the school website or stop by the clinic and pick up a blank form.
4. If your student will be entering Kindergarten or 7th grade next year then he or she will need Vaccine Boosters please be on watch for a letter to be mailed out giving you information on which vaccines are needed. If your child has received vaccines since school started in August, please send us a copy of those records.
5. Upcoming field day May 29, we do NOT keep sunscreen or bug spray in the clinic. Students are not allowed to keep either item with them during field
day. You are welcome to apply sunscreen and bug spray at home prior to arriving to school for the day.
Thank you for letting us care for your children while they are at school. It has been a pleasure getting to know the students here and we are looking forward to next year!

Next Monday, May 21st will be our last meeting to pray the rosary. We will be praying the Scriptural Rosary for the Joyful Mysteries which includes a bible verse before each Hail Mary. Because it will take a little longer, we will begin at 2:20pm in the Faculty Room. Everyone is invited to join us as we pray for our school and children.

For 26 years SAS has participated in the Duke University Talent Search Program. This is a nationwide gifted and talented program that allows 7th graders who score 95% or higher on certain subtests of a nationwide achievement test to take the ACT or SAT college entrance exams. SAS has 50% of our 7th graders scoring 95% or higher on the Iowa Basic Acheivment Test.
The SAS students are:
Annie Rose Berndt, Andrew
Booth,
Cooper Brady, Elizabeth Brown, Mary Margaret Caero, Mo Conlin, Henry Devenport, Annabel Dikes, Ainsley

Lona Le, David
Maberry,
Ashley McGown, Gabriella Miranda, Julia Murphy, Adelaide Nichols, Adam Nowak, Kaley O'Keefe, Mattie Rose Porras, Isabella Rios, Mia Rodriguez, Abigail Schwartz, Tommy Sepanski, Ben Shlemon, and Cooper Sorokolit.

The Spiritual Life Committee at Saint Andrew Catholic School offers two blessed statues to its families: A statue of Rosa Mystica and an Immaculate Heart o
f Mary Statue.
Each week (from Wednesday afternoon to the following Wednesday morning) two families will have the opportunity to take these statues home and use them as a source of inspiration, prayer and reflection. The tote bag containing the statue will also have
suggested prayers. This special tradition will hopefully be one full of meaning and faith for each of you.
