NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29
News for the Parents of Saint Andrew Catholic School
September 19, 2017
FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Families,

We are in the midst of our Fall Frenzy - North Texas Giving Day, BookNic, Garage Sale, Oktoberfest, Fall Festival and more. The best part of all of this excitement is seeing our entire parish community come together - church and school. Thank you to those who have volunteered to help with these events. It is only because of the generosity of our families that these events are possible.

And thank you to the 265 families who so generously gave to our school last Thursday on North Texas Giving Day. We far exceeded last year's total. I continue to be amazed by all who give so much to help us accomplish our mission of educating our children while forming them in faith.

Only By His Grace,
Veronica Tucker

ATTENTION PARENTS!!

The Next Chapter

Bullying is a serious problem. Whether it's cyber-bullying or a face-to-face confrontation, the pain, embarrassment, and humiliation can be devastating.

To help students learn how to deal with these issues, they will have the opportunity to see an amazing, live, Bullying Prevention / Internet Safety program called The Next Chapter.

Through powerful, true stories and videos, students will learn how to overcome harmful words and actions. They will also learn the enormous price many young people have paid for sharing personal information, pictures, and videos on-line. This program will definitely help your student stop and think before hitting SEND.

Parents will have the opportunity to preview the student program as well as receive tips on how to discuss these issues at home.

The Next Chapter is presented by Aim for Success, Inc. which has educated over 2.5 million teens and parents with their motivational presentations across America since 1993.

SUPER FRIENDS with SUPER POWERS

From the very start, students are enthralled with the concept of receiving SUPER POWER TRAINING to become a SUPER FRIENDS with SUPER POWERS. This bullying prevention program is action-packed and includes an impressive high-tech visual presentation, games, stories and object lessons. Students learn important steps in how to be a friend and appropriate ways to deal with those who bully. Students will laugh and have loads of fun while they learn how to use their 5 SUPER POWERS.

The Parent Program will provide a preview of the student program and equip you with creative ideas to help your child deal with and prevent bullying.

THE LOST AND FOUND HAS BEEN RELOCATED!

The white cabinets at the bottom of the stairs, across from the nurses office will now house any lost items.

Please note, these items will be given to charity on the 1st and 15th of every month. Make sure you check for lost items prior to those dates.

Please put your child's name on all water bottles, lunch boxes, and outerwear. These are the most frequent items in the lost and found.

SAFE & SACRED
The Diocese of Fort Worth requires all adults who volunteer at our school to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check, complete Safe & Sacred (Safe Environment) training, and agree to the Code of Conduct every three years. Currently the process is done online.

If you would like to drive on a field trip, volunteer in the classroom, help at a class party, help at the Fall Festival, etc., please email  Lisa Harrington to begin the process.

We appreciate your willingness to volunteer!!

MARIAN STATUES
The Spiritual Life Committee at Saint Andrew Catholic School offers two blessed statues to its families:  A statue of Rosa Mystica and an Immaculate Heart of Mary Statue. Each week (from Wednesday afternoon to the following Wednesday morning) two families will have the opportunity to take these statues home and use them as a source of inspiration, prayer and reflection. The tote bag containing the statue will also have suggested prayers. This special tradition will hopefully be one full of meaning and faith for each of you. Click here to sign up.    Email Karen Schroder, SAS parent for questions.
