News for the Parents of Saint Andrew Catholic School
November 8, 2016
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Families,

Happy Election Day!  This morning, our students gathered in the gym in song and prayer for our country and our next leader. The first-graders, alongside our 6th-grade girls, sang "America the Beautiful" followed by an all-school Divine Mercy Chaplet. Only three days ago, the gym served a totally different purpose as Moms and sons danced the night away! I am sure that, like me, many of you found yourselves looking at these little blessings (and some of those not-so-little 8th grade blessings) all dressed up and realized how quickly time flies; and how you sometimes which time could stand still for just a moment. Mothers and sons line-dancing, doing the Y-M-C-A and the twist created smiles across the entire gym. And the happy faces on the mothers when the sons give a carnation and a note. I collect those sweet notes in which my son shares why he thanks God for his mother. I read them often - and keep them in case he needs a reminder sometimes. :) Whether our gym is used as a sacred space or social space, it's a place to come together as a family. Thank you for being a part of the Saint Andrew family.

Only By His Grace,
Veronica Tucker

FROM THE PRESIDENT - TRADITION
Next week, will be the last week before the Thanksgiving break.  A long standing tradition of Saint Andrew has been the Holiday Outreach boxes.  Patty Watson, former Director of Social Ministry for the parish, advocated a large contribution of food items for the needy families of our parish and school to kick-off the holiday season.  Food was collected before the Thanksgiving break and was taken to the storage facility (the white elephant) at the east end of the campus.  Over the years, the food has been distributed over Thanksgiving and Christmas.  We have collected thousands of pounds of food for our Social Ministry department.  This ministry has since been named the Food Pantry of Saint Andrew Parish and is under the direction of Tom Stumpf.

Please help fill the boxes this week for your child's homeroom class to keep our long standing tradition alive.  We will donate the boxes to the Food Pantry next Wednesday November 16 th.

MONTH OF THE HOLY SOULS
Each year during the month of November, the Church offers us the opportunity to remember in a special way our deceased relatives and friends. We do this with a firm faith in our future reunion with them forever.

Saint Andrew Catholic School faculty & students would like to offer prayers for the deceased loved ones of our alumni, benefactors, friends and family members. This month, we have opened an online form for you to indicate the names of your beloved deceased. These names will be placed on the altar at Saint Andrew Catholic School Masses and in the Chapel during weekly adoration throughout the month of November. In this way, your remembrance and ours will be made more personal.

Please do not send an offering. This is Saint Andrew Catholic School's gift to you. Thank you for all you do for SAS!

Please  click here  to enter the names of your loved ones.
