News for the Parents of Saint Andrew Catholic School
January 10, 2017
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Families,

Happy New Year! Can you believe it's 2017? I remember when I was a student at Saint Andrew, anything in the 2000s seemed eons away. And here we are now welcoming another new year well into this third millennium. I pray you all had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed the long break. I am so excited to have kicked off this second half of the school year with many exciting things in store for this year and next. I also pray that 2017 be a year full of blessings for each of you. Thank you for making Saint Andrew Catholic School a part of your family.

Only By His Grace,
Veronica Tucker

CHILDREN'S ALOPECIA PROJECT
This year, we will have a special presentation for our 1st - 4th graders on  Wednesday, January 18th. With the help of the Friedman family, we are hosting a speaker from Children's Alopecia Project to raise awareness for alopecia. This presentation will explain alopecia and clarify any questions students might have.

In support of the work of this foundation, we are offering students the option to pay $1  this Friday, January 13th , to wear any hat of their choice to school. All proceeds will go directly to Children's Alopecia Project. The money can be given to homeroom teachers the morning of the 13th. Thanks, in advance, for your support.

ANTI-BULLYING PRESENTATION COMING TO SAS FOR 5TH - 8TH GRADES

Aim for Success, Inc., will present their nationally acclaimed program to the 5th - 8th grade students and parents. The Empowered to  Defend live  presentation informs students how they can overcome the words and actions of bullies by teaching the one proven way to stop bullying. The program will illustrate through riveting, true stories the affects bullying has on its victims and will empower students to defend those being bullied. Whether it's cyber-bullying or a face-to-face confrontation, students will learn how they can disarm the situation and turn it into good.

The Parent Program is a preview of the student presentation where parents will learn creative ways to talk to their child about bullying, encourage their child when being bullied and learn how to work with school leaders to prevent bullying. This presentation will take place tonight, January 10th, at 6:00 pm in the school library. The 5th - 8th grade student presentation will take place January 23rd.
