News for the Parents of Saint Andrew Catholic School
September 5, 2017
FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Families,

Weeks like this past week affirm what is good in the world and what should be important. A lesson in what true tragedies are. A lesson in what should be our priorities. And maybe also a reminder to look for the good in others and make an effort to give each other the benefit of the doubt. Realizing the losses experienced by fellow Texans not that far away can also serve as an opportunity to see blessings in the everyday.

I was so humbled and impressed by the generosity of our families in supporting the victims of Hurricane Harvey. In just one day, last Friday, the students, faculty, staff and families of Saint Andrew raised over $4,200 to send to Catholic Charities of Houston. Over the weekend, we had students working in yards, running lemonade stands and collecting donations to add to the cause. We have such amazing students and families! Please continue to join us in our prayers for relief for the many families now working to rebuild their lives after the storm.

Only By His Grace,
Veronica Tucker

ANNUAL FUND PACKETS
By now, all SAS parents, grandparents, alumni, and parishioners should have received their Annual Fund packets in the mail.  If you have not, please pick one up in the main office or call Rose Hall 817-924-8917 X2016 and she will send one home with your child.  THANK YOU.

Annual Fund Donor Correction
Thank you to Lindsey and Josh Borsellino for donating to the 2016-2017 Annual Fund at the Saint Andrew level. ($1000 - $1599)  We are s o sorry for
not including their name on the Annual Fund Donor list included in this year's Annual Fund packet.

LUNCH VISITORS

It is so special for our students when parents or grandparents visit for a special occasion lunch. We have had so many visitors these first few weeks that we are having challenges finding places for students to eat. Please limit your lunch visits to no more than one a quarter. Thank you!

MARBLE SLAB BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT

Thank you to our parents and students who participated in the Marble Slab Back to School Fundraiser. SAS received a check for $400!

Remember, any time you purchase ice cream, yogurt, shakes, ice cream cakes, etc. from the Marble Slab at
3000 S Hulen St #151 (Trinity Commons Shopping Center)
they will donate 25% of your purchase back to SAS. Just mention that you are with Saint Andrew.

A big thank you goes to the owners, SAS parents Jennifer & John Nichols, for their generosity!!

BOX TOPS
General Mills wanted to create a program to help support education and benefit America's schools - and so, Box Tops for Education™ was born.   By clipping Box Tops SAS can earn cash to buy things such as books, computers, playground equipment and more.  Collecting Box Tops is a fun and easy way to make money for our school. Each one is worth a dime for our school.

You can find Box Tops on hundreds of products throughout the grocery store and online.  Please click here  for  a list of participating products. Box Tops can be dropped off in the front office.

To find coupons for the General Mills products please click here .

We are no longer accepting Campbell Soup Labels. Campbell has discontinued this program.

PARENT-TEACHER PRAYER PARTNERS

Have you ever visited the school lunchroom or looked around at dismissal and thought, "I don't know how these teachers and staff do it!" They are a true Godsend and praying for them is one of the simplest ways to fortify them in their work.

Sign up to be a parent-teacher/staff prayer partner and they will also be praying for you! Many more prayer enthusiasts are needed for this special ministry and parents (moms and dads), grandparents and friends are strongly encouraged to volunteer.

Who doesn't need a few extra prayers? Plus it only takes a minute of your day. We will partner you with a member of the school team, provide a prayer card as a visual reminder and send occasional tips for new ways to pray and deepen your faith.

I f you are called to volunteer, please email Monica Swaim

NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY

When is NTGD?
Donate on North Texas Giving Day, Thursday, September 14th from 6:00am - Midnight.

New This Year
Donors can schedule their gifts before North Texas Giving Day! Scheduled giving opens on September 7 at 8:00am and goes through September 13 at midnight!

Donations to the Annual Fund can be made on NTGD.
Saint Andrew's Annual Fund will be part of this day of giving again this year.  If you give any donation to SAS on this day on NorthTexasGivingDay.org your gift will be multiplied and SAS will be eligible for many prizes and bonus funds.  Please mark your calendar now.

Just a gentle reminder NTXGIVING DAY will not allow any non-profit to give anything free for any donation on that site.  So our Annual Fund leadership level of $2000 or above can not be credited that day.  So if you are giving at that level please only give a small amount on NTXGIVING DAY and then give the rest through SAS by cash, check, or credit card.  THANK YOU.

get involved and it's fun!    Please sign-up here.  Please feel free to sign up for as many shifts as you want!  Thank you!

  • Toys and Games
  • Sports items
  • Furniture
  • Children's books

At the time of drop-off we will provide a tax donation form.  If for any reason you cannot bring items that you are willing to donate to the gym at that time, please call Josh Borsellino at 817.908.9861 and he will arrange to pick the items up at a time that is convenient to you.
